More about us:
Joe Harris, AIA, NCARB, LEED-AP is a licensed architect in Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. He's an expert in all scales of residential design including apartment buildings, condo units, row houses, suburban and country houses, historic houses, and large estates. His practice is focused on urban and suburban living, but like most city dwellers, he also looks forward to getting far out of town occasionally.
Joe founded MEASURE in 2018. His professional background is in large multi-family building design, as well as more than a decade in single-family work in the Maryland and Virginia suburbs and countryside. In addition to new homes, additions, and historic estates, Joe also has led design teams on some of the largest and most innovative mixed-used residential projects in the District. He’s designed hundreds of new units, as well as many small homes and ADU’s.
For the last 20 years he has lived in DC apartments and condos ranging in style and vintage. He lives in Glover Park with his wife and two kids in a small apartment, which gives him personal insight on the space demands of the modern city dweller.
As a lifelong runner and cyclist, his love for the outdoors is central to his design vision.
Since starting MEASURE, Joe has designed new houses, backyard dwellings, apartment buildings, a bookstore, offices, a restaurant, a large retirement community, multi-block urban master plans, & several home renovations and additions.
Joe is passionate about dwelling and place-making, he loves residential buildings as an architectural typology, and he's very good at designing them. He would like to help as many people as possible love their nest.
