FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The fees are roughly proportional to the size of the project both in square footage and complexity.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The typical design process is comprised of three large and two small steps. 1. Schematic Design (What are we going to do?) The ideas phase where the clients desires are translated into loose drawings and options the possibilities. 2. Design Development (How are we going to do it?) More formal drawings of how the project would be constructed and meet code/budget restrictions. 3. Construction Documents (Tell someone else how to do it) The CD's are designed to tell the County/City authorities exactly what we propose to do and they verify that it meets the zoning/code requirements. A Contractor can also provide a 'tight' price for the work. The County/City issues a permit to the contractor to build the project. 4. Bidding - Assist the client in contractor selection 5. Construction Administration- Answer questions and observe the work under construction.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Beside a B. Arch and M. Arch, I am also a Certified Passive House Consultant, trained to design extremely energy efficient buildings. I have also spent over 10 years teaching at the University level and expect to be able to explain my recommendations.
