FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am flexible when it comes to pricing. I do have a standard hourly rate that I use in developing my estimates, but I also consider the size of a project and me clients budget when agreeing on a final cost. I am open to either hourly or flat fees. The bottom line is that we both need to feel comfortable with costs, and I am very sensitive to that.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We start with a phone call introduction to go over basic information about your project. That would include: What are your goals, who is your competition, do you have branding requirements, are copy and/or graphic elements and photos supplied, desired timeframe for completion, number of design versions you are expecting, what is the end use for this design, etc. I always review my client's competition, and then do something different. Standing out from the crowd is one goal I have set for every project. It's also important to keep up with trends, and know what works and what doesn't. With years of experience, good decisions should be intuitive. And you need to make sure the chemistry is right before liftoff!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was an art major in college focusing on graphic design. I have many years of in advertising agencies primarily as a creative manager, but also performed design as needed, and freelance design work. I have been freelancing on my own now for 7+ years. I continue to take online classes to perfect my techniques and follow design trends by being part of other online organizations such as AIGA and DCWW (DC Web Women).
