Manny did a excellent job assembling my tv stand and end table. He was punctual, organized, prepared, efficient, cleanly and, most of all, polite and respectful. I've had many workers at my home and none have been this good in every way. I was reluctant to use a job service but decided to give it a try based on other excellent reviews for Manny, in particular. I couldn't be more pleased and will definitely be using him in the future. He's a real gem in this field of business.

Carl did a fantastic job. He was punctual, extremely courteous and a very hard worker. I had him hang 2-13' curtain rods into stucco/cement block and everything turned out great. He took great are in making sure everything was level and secure. I have already spoken to him about other projects that have been swirling in the back of my head. I look forward to working with him in the future. I will definitely recommend him to family and friends.

Tony was very skilled and knowledgeable. He mounted a very large, heavy wrought iron pot and pan rack from the ceiling. The weight of the rack required it to be hung with precision. The studs were not lining up as they should and Tony was persistent in locating them to complete the job properly. I am extremely satisfied.

Working with Jay-Mar was just wonderful. Toni and Brandon are great people, did outstanding work replacing our wood fence, and took care of our existing landscaping as well. Their price was good, and Brandon's workmanship outstanding. I'd recommend them to anyone.

I would like to share my experience with this company for those looking to do any and all aspects of yard work for your homes or businesses. Robert and his group of workers have done such an exceptional job! We started out with a disaterous piece of property. We needed sod, irrigation, gradin, tree cutting and fencing done at our new home. We not only received a reasonable estimate. We received awesome quality work! I never even imagined our yard to look so fantastic. They were there when they said they were going to be and worked tirelessly for days to complete what needed to be done. Even with us adding more to the original job. Our yard is beautiful! Many thanks to Robert and Cody for all your time. We have also decided to keep them on to maintain our yard to keep it looking fantastic! We couldn't be happier with the outcome! Side note... People when you hire workers to do work in your yards, especially in Florida! Its always a nice gesture to fill a cooler with ice and Gatorade or water for the workers. If it's a long job requiring several days. Buy them lunch at least one day. Happy workers make productive workers. Just a thought. Thanks again Greenfeld and Yauger!

Jerry is amazing. Now only did he help me get final approval from my HOA but he was able to install my fence immediately after I got the approval. The fence is great!! Could not have asked for anything more. His workers also left my yard clean after installation.

We hired them to fence in our backyard pool. Anna (project manager) was very communicative. Workers were on time and handled everything same in a day. They even accommodated my neighbor who had some concerns with access to his backyard by repositioning gate. Truly a great fence contractor with awesome value.

First they sent four workers to do the crown Moulding for about 150ft, but apparently these workers not very skilled with this installation. It took them about 12 hours from cutting to installation, nail holes caulking and painting. The end cut still not flushed. Fortunately, Next day Nelson sent a skilled person fix the problem. Would recommend they should use right person to do right job at the first beginning. otherwise it wastes both side time. Final results satisfied.

ATR SCREENING DID A PHENOMENAL JOB!! We needed the roof to our screen room to be replaced/repaired due to some major leaking that I had let go way too long. Bryan and his team worked quickly to have this done just in time for a family gathering. They communicated with us and kept us up to date on the progress via phone, email and text. Their approach to customer service as well as their work is top notch. Very professional and friendly. The workers cleaned up after themselves and pressure washed our porch area. We can tell they take pride in their work as they paid attention to the little details and also showed concern for our family safety (our roof was engulfed with water and was on the verge of collapsing). We are so thankful to have found this company, and will definitely recommend to anyone needing this type of service. I must add that we felt comfortable with them from the very beginning, a total of 3 different companies came out to give us an estimate for the repair/replacement. ATR was the only company that showed genuine concern, and gave us an action plan that would solve the problem. The others gave us a "patch it up" type of solution. Thank you again!!!

Dale is a wonderful handyman that has become a trusted worker at our house. We recently moved here and needed fixes to our new home. We hired Dale to install a mailbox and quickly found that we could use him for other tasks. I have detailed some of the projects below, but the top qualities of Dale are: 1. Quality 2. Timeliness 3. Value Dale has given us quality work whenever we have requested him to come by. As soon as we identify an issue, he is timely in fixing or helping with our home. Additionally, After adding the 10+ projects that Dale has completed for us, I have found that he has saved us $2000-$3000 in labor costs. I am continually impressed with Dale's skill level in many different areas. Below is a condensed list of projects that he has completed for us: 1. Fixed holes in ceiling 2. Pressure washed and painted fence 3. Built a roof for our back deck 4. Improved the border of our fireplace 5. Replaced Ventilation 6. Installed bathroom appliances 7. Installed lattice around the bottom of the house and painted it to match the house color Dave saves us time and money, but his professionalism is the reason I have his number saved. After living in 8 different cities, Dale is the best handyman we have come across

I hired Jeff to install two fans that another contractor could not do. The first fan had so many wires attached that Jeff had to test them all and determine where they were going. Then he took the old box out and put in a new one. He ran into several problems but he did not give up! Then , moving to the second fan. this one had even more issues. My ceiling was damaged by Irma and the contractor that fixed my ceiling closed up the hole where the ceiling fan was. Jeff had to make a new opening and install a new box. Then, there was a part missing and Jeff went to his truck and fashioned the missing part out of what he had in his truck. Then he put it together and started the fan but it was wobbling, so, Jeff took it apart and started over. Jeff tested out every part of this fan until he had it up and working perfectly. He does not give up at all. He will find a way to make it work. I would highly recommend him to do the projects that you have to do. You will not be disappointed!!!

Overall, I think the vinyl fence looks great! However, there was some frustrations getting there. Day 1: one side finished. Let my dog out, thinking she couldn't get out. However, the workers left a panel open in the back. My dog went visiting our neighbor and then the neighborhood. Day 2: almost complete, missing a significant piece. Open panel left because of missing piece. Space blocked with wooden old fence piece. My beautiful Crepe Myrtle tree was cut off in the middle and branches broken. I guess it got in the way of one of the workers. Day 3: Although the Worker in charge told me that someone would be by in the morning to complete the fence, no one showed, in spite of me calling and leaving a message. Day 4: Sunday, nothing. Day 5: Called again. Finally, the worker showed up and finished the job. Except, for dirty spots that I need to clean, I am happy how it looks.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How long is welding training?

Because there are different paths to learning to weld, there’s no single timeline for welding training. Some people attend school part-time while working their current job, while others can focus full-time on their welding training courses. People interested in learning how to weld as a hobby can also take classes from professional welders, such as at KCMA & Services in Waterloo, Indiana.

Expect to take at least two years to go from welding newbie to American Welding Society Certified Welder. A junior college Certificate of Completion welding course is two semesters full-time, or 10 units of coursework. With this certificate, students are qualified for an apprenticeship or internship, rather than a full-time entry-level job. Welding apprenticeships range from 6,000 to 8,000 hours long, equalling three to four years at 2,000 hours per year. Some junior colleges, such as Cerritos College in the Los Angeles area, offer more in-depth welding programs that lead to different welding certifications, such as arc welding and tungsten gas arc welding. These take three to four semesters to complete, so you could be qualified for an entry-level job in about two years of full-time study. Alternatively, you can prepare for employment more quickly through an intensive vocational program at a trade school. For instance, Ohio’s Lincoln Electric Company offers a comprehensive program that prepares people for a welding career in just 20 weeks and 600 hours of hands-on instruction.

How much is welding training?

The cost of welding training depends on where you take your classes and how quickly you want to complete the program. In general, junior college welding classes are the least expensive, but may take longer; trade schools offer intensive classes that lead to certification more quickly, but are more expensive. For example, Cerritos College, a junior college in Los Angeles that offers a welding training course, charges an average of $46 per unit; most of their welding certificate programs require 19 units of coursework, so cost about $875 each to complete. Pro-Weld, an on-site welding school in Idaho, offers three different welding courses. The 36-week welder fabrication and the 24-week gas tungsten arc welding courses each cost an average of $3,300, while pipe welding costs an average of $2,500 for a 24-week session or an average of $4,500 for a 52-week session. The 20-week comprehensive program at the Lincoln Electric Company in Ohio costs an average of $9,500. Many programs require students to purchase approximately $120-$200 worth of personal welding equipment in addition to textbooks or other class material fees.
