I am Eric, a native of France, where I was born, raised, and educated, and where I lived for forty-four years. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Literature (Licence en Lettres Classiques) and a Master’s degree in Modern Literature (Maîtrise en Lettres Modernes) from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
Early in my career, I chose to work within the private sector, specializing in French as a Second Language instruction for foreign professionals and immigrant employees. As an independent language consultant, I provided linguistic training and cross-cultural communication support to personnel from major French corporations and institutions, including Air France, L’Oréal, SNCF, Gaz de France, and Sanofi.
For more than twenty-five years, I have taught French in France, the United Kingdom, and, more recently, the United States. Over the course of my career, I have guided students from complete beginner level to full linguistic fluency through a rigorous and highly individualized teaching methodology that I developed over decades of professional practice.
My students come from a wide range of academic, professional, and personal backgrounds: complete beginners, travelers preparing for extended stays abroad, secondary-school and university students, and adults seeking to reactivate or strengthen French previously studied earlier in life. I also work with advanced speakers who wish to engage with the language at a far deeper intellectual and cultural level through the study of French literature, cinema, philosophy, stylistics, and linguistic nuance.
Among my students have been American high school French teachers seeking to refine and deepen their own command of the language, as well as university professors requiring assistance with book translation, advanced textual analysis, and highly specialized linguistic or stylistic questions.
To provide maximum flexibility and accessibility, I offer private instruction via Zoom and Microsoft Teams to students throughout North America and internationally. Over the years, remote instruction has become an integral component of my pedagogical approach and has consistently proven highly effective in promoting linguistic development, sustained progress, and individualized engagement.
