Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I teach and mentor students, so that they will have the tools necessary to take their guitar playing to their desired goal. I teach them how to avoid the mistakes and pitfalls so many guitarists make in their learning process and stress the most important fundamentals needed for success. I have helped many guitarists improve their playing exponentially through proven methods and strategies. My own specialties are in jazz, rock and blues, but teach other styles as well including folk, country, etc. My methods are flexible enough to equip students to excel at most any musical style desired. Most of the struggles that students have overcoming obstacles are the same ones that I encountered in my long journey with the guitar. Whatever the student's current level is and whatever obstacles or struggles the student is dealing with, I've been there. I had to overcome many challenges to become the superb guitarist I am today. Because of this experience, I am especially equipped to teach others wanting to become great guitarists. The tools I impart allow the student to take his/her playing to whatever level the student desires. My students learn to be at ease over the entire fretboard with a simple and innovative method I've developed. Combined with a hands-on, step-by-step approach, placing one simple idea on top of another, I can help you become a confident and musically expressive player.

Feldstein is an amazing talent who has a gift of picking up on what you like and turning it into a valuable lesson. After being frustrated by chain store curriculums, Jeff was a breath of fresh air. In my first lesson with him, Jeff was able to fill in huge gaps in my understanding that my previous teachers had completely missed. I have varied interests in music and Jeff has been able to tackle it all without a blink. Spy tunes, 1970's rock classics, western, modern pop - Jeff was able to pick up right away on my interest. He then scribbled out an arrangement that was appropriate to my skill level and we were playing it before lessons end. It has been a really fun experience and one I will continue for the foreseeable future.

We were very fortunate to find Jeff as a guitar teacher for our children & I couldn't say enough good things about him. My oldest child was his student for about 4 years & thanks to Jeff she knows her stuff so well she has given guitar lessons herself. She can solo up a storm -- Jimi Hendrix to Wes Montgomery, you name it,Jeff took all requests and always had excellent suggestions. My other daughter, 10 years old, only started bass less than a year ago with Jeff, but she already has a lot of rock and jazz tunes in her arsenal. One of the best & most important qualities about Jeff's teaching is that he makes kids think. I could see my daughter still thinking about what Jeff had taught her after a long school day and music lesson. As soon as she got home she would take out her bass again and work on what he'd just taught her. This is what makes Jeff such a gifted teacher. He doesn't just follow a book or put his time in. He's 100% dedicated, loves music & what he does & it totally shows. I'm so proud of what my kids can now & we owe it to him.

I've been playing guitar for more than 25 years and was looking for someone to help me improve my playing. I've tried other teachers, but Jeff has been the best of the bunch. Being an experienced player myself, other teachers focused on what they wanted to teach, not what I needed. Jeff provides me with insights and coaching, taking into consideration what I already know and what I want to learn. I'm learning & improving my blues, rock, and jazz, and I enjoy the variety. After a few lessons, other members of my band noticed and commented that I have improved. Thanks Jeff! I look forward to my next lesson! Always fun!

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

What I do for my clients is teach, mentor and coach them to become the guitar players they want to be. Some students ask me to prepare them for an audition for a school band, or a college audition. Sometimes it will be to teach a young student the fundamentals of reading music. Sometimes its a player who wants to learn, for examples, Beatles songs, in which case I'll start with the more simple ones and use that as a jumping off point to teach relevant technique, theory and history, then proceed onto the more sophisticated songs. Sometimes the job will emphasize jazz theory and technique. Other times it will be how to construct a rock lead guitar solo and the techniques used by various artists of that genre.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The guitar teaching market is flooded with amateurs, sometimes even at music stores who offer lessons, who don't really know how to teach you. Check to see that it's not just some guy who can play some guitar and is trying just to earn extra money. Find out how long he's been playing and how long he's been teaching. If you can, try to find out what others who have studied with that teacher have to say about their experience. An experienced and knowledgeable teacher with a track record gives the student far more bang for the buck. Once you find one, make sure that you're both on the same page. I can't tell you the number of students I've taken on who studied for a time with someone else who opted to teach them the music they knew rather than concentrate on the student's own interests as well as filling the student's notebook with a bunch of stuff not relevant to the student's level of understanding, but rather happened to be what that teacher knew, but again not relevant to the student, at least at that point in time.
