We recently bought an older home in Eagle Ridge and were aware that the roof was at the end of life. What we didn't know was a certain insurance company would be eager to accept our premium for closing and then within 60 days send us the dreaded "drop dead letter". Now, we had 2 weeks to find a contractor, get a permit and have our roof replaced or get cancelled. We got six estimates total, some were a result of Thumbtack replies and others we called after internet research. Some, couldn't meet our deadline, others seemed like sharks chasing a fish, and a couple came in very close to the same price. One very large Fort Myers contractor's estimate was not in the same world. Ruben responded through Thumbtack quickly. We talked on the phone and he made an appointment to talk to us at our house. Even though he was the first contractor we talked to in depth he right away gave us the feeling that he was going to get the job even if later estimates were a bit lower. He went into great detail about the permitting process, inspections and how he runs his crews. This was important information because he "controls his own crews" and can adapt to changing weather etc. Some contractors "sub" the work to others then control of the work flow is a problem. Throughout the job, Ruben was in touch either in person or by phone about scheduling, who would be on the job, what they were to accomplish that day and what would be next. When he is at other sites, his crew emails pictures to Ruben so that he can monitor the progress, approve previously discussed repairs and then sends those pictures to the homeowner with a follow up call. Ruben is a very smart and likable guy, gave us a very reasonable and competitive estimate, did exactly what we discussed and kept us informed all the way. And, OMG he actually answers his phone and responds to texts. Don't make the mistake of taking the lowest estimate without giving Ruben a fair shot. I would highly recommend Ruben and Gibisa Construction aka Pro Edge Roofing for your roofing needs.
