I called around to several Landscaping Companies to compare rates. I received a call back immediately from Mo's. Marshall was very polite and was able to come by and give me a quote. Marshall was able to get right to work. I was very pleased and am looking forward to having someone responsible and punctual taking care of my Lawn. Thanks Marshall for your quick response. I would highly recommend Mo's. Marshall takes pride in his work and aims to please his Customers. I suggest calling him For your Perfect Lawn.

Kathy and George are hard-working and they completed my project within the timeframe they gave me. Quality of work was excellent. Communication was also excellent and knowledge and feedback questions I had to maintain landscaping in the future. Any future projects I will call Kathy again and I will refer Kathy and George to anybody that might need landscaping and any other project.๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

I would highly recommend Albert & Ellis landscaping. They were professional and I am super happy with the work they provided. They trimmed my oak trees as well as mulch and planted flowers in my flower bed. They are very responsive. Jay was really awesome. They are also affordable. You would not be disappointed if you go with them. They ensure the job is to your liking and will ensure it gets done the way you wanted. Will definitely use them for my future landscaping needs.

John came out to preview my property and talk to me about what needed to be done. He was patient, friendly, and knowledgable. I hired him to start the next day and he showed up when he said he would. I felt like him and his partner took their time on my lawn and landscaping. I don't have a large lawn, but there is a lot of landscaping for plants, flowers, and bushes, plus a lot of edge work. It was terribly overgrown and after John finished, it looked clean and uniform. I also like how he comes weekly and found his price to be very fair. Definitely recommend.

Though small, I had a problem yard that needed a major overhaul. Michael's quote was reasonable (understatement!). AND he was on time and thorough. I will be using Michael - Full Force Management - for all my lawn and garden projects.

Given that we have such a large facility, we have had many landscapers perform work over the years. This was by far the best company I have ever worked with. We needed a new Memorial Garden and Robert came out personally to make his recommendations and guided us through the process. It was so refreshing to find a company that performed such an important job with professionalism and grace. I highly recommend Robert Draper, Inc. for your business or residential landscaping needs.

Allscape Patio & Landscape

We hired Allscape to install a patio off our back door. There had been a deck previously and we wanted to have a raised portion so it would be an easy step out and a larger lower portion. Dennis and his crew were exceptionally professional and did a fantastic job communicating with us about when they would be coming. They stuck to the estimate and timeline and I am sure if there had been any reasons for delay we would have been kept in the loop. The price for the patio was the highest quote that we got, but after hiring a cheaper company to do the work only to have them fall through and clearly not know what they were doing with such a large job, the price was absolutely worth it. From start to finish, this job was done with forethought and proper execution. I would recommend Allscape to anyone looking for a new patio without hesitation. We are now getting estimates for landscaping around the new patio and I will write another review as we will likely trust Allscape for that as well.

We hired Adam after looking for a tree service for our palms, oaks and other trees. Adam came out for a quick and free estimate and ending up giving us a great rate. He brought suggestions based on experience and it was clear he was passionate about what he does. He knew so much about our trees and how best to trim them and make them look their best. Adam and his crew arrived even sooner than they said they originally could. They were amazing and took excellent care of our trees and landscape. We will use them again next year for the same service and I would happily recommend them to anyone looking for an experienced tree service.

"I am very satisfied. You don't always get everything, but usually by the time I notice you have missed something you get it the next time. You are a bit pricey, but of the three companies that I have hired for my lawn care since I have lived at my house you are by far the best."

I reached online for a resodding project. I got a few responses and estimates. Chuck, with Palmetto Mimi Skid Steer Landscaping Services immediately stood out from the others. He was quick to respond, and knowledgeable on completing the resodding project. His prices were fair and comparable to the the other estimates. However, his professionalism and immediate attention to meet a very short deadline was a lifesaver. His concern and dedication to finding the right sod during a very rainy period proved top notch customer service. The job was completed quickly without cutting any corners. He and his son (who also owns a landscaping business) went above and beyond to do the a GREAT JOB... and they did! I would definitely recommend this company.

Oh my gosh I had such a great experience with Greenbrook! Brett is so easy to get ahold of and made me feel so comfortable through the whole process, I was nervous because I had a walkway, landscaping, irrigation, and fencing installed but that worry was short lived after meeting Brett. His team is so experienced and really know what they are doing, and they truly seem to be committed to Greenbrook and producing the best possible result, which is exactly what I got! My mother also had her back patio done by them and she feels the same way.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer โ€” whether an interior designer or a landscape designer โ€” does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work youโ€™d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; youโ€™ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

  • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
  • Read online reviews of client experiences.
  • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the stateโ€™s Department of Consumer Affairs.
  • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
  • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly โ€” though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value โ€” so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, youโ€™ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
