Professionalism: Tristan is a prompt communicator who listened attentively to our ideas. Not only did he learn the initial music we had in mind, but he also researched similar music at our request and made suggestions that led to an even more beautiful final piece for our wedding ceremony. He collaborated seamlessly with the other musician we hired, and even though they didn't know each other it sounded as if they'd been performing together for years! He communicated clearly and promptly with our DJ, who has since reached out to tell us he would like to work with Tristan again (and we see why!). Attitude and energy: Tristan is an upbeat, gentle and kind young man with a positive approach to problem-solving. We had a few technical concerns and last-minute tech hiccups on the day of our wedding, and Tristan rolled with the punches so that no one could tell. The product (that music!): Tristan's guitar-playing skills are exquisite. His attention to detail shines most in his music; even in a large outdoor space, he played with intricate finger work and dynamics that made his songs float through the space. His playing is emotional, thanks in part to his expertise in choosing pieces that are moving and meaningful, as well as his ability to connect to the music and play with intention. Nate broke it down, made it easy to mess up and keep going without being discouraged. He believed I could play more than I did. But I got there his easy, but insightful way of teaching broke it into chunks I could readily consume. Before I knew it the building blocks came together. You never know what you can do until you try. Nate made learning it easy, laid back, fun but all solidly rooted in / backed with music theory.
