Introduction: My specialties: ~ Dog Behavioral Experiential Learning ~ Behavior Modification with dogs experiencing fear, barking, reactive aggression, separation anxiety. I educate families to teach their dog or puppy skills in the way the dog understands. I teach you to modify/learn the behaviors that are a concern to you. To begin our relationship we have an extended phone consultation. Plan on at spending at least 1/2 - 1 hour on the phone to both diagnose what you want for your dog and to create an Agenda. I am the #1 dog trainer for recommended by Thumbtack as well as a TOP PRO each year since 2016. Although I am listed in the Dog Trainer category, I am an Educator teaching you and your dog the skills you decide you want for your dog. I appreciate Thumbtack's recognition of my work and will always adher to the highest standards and go beyond for the interests of your family and your dog. My fees are $160 per hour. Sessions are 2 hours. I offer puppy discounted packages and discounted behavioral packages. During our phone call, we create an AGENDA created specifically for your dog. We will ACCOMPLISH the AGENDA in the 2+ hour session. After this session, we have multiple COACHING sessions for FREE. There are no additional fees for coaching on this specific Agenda. Additional coaching sessions have been shown to acheive optimum learning to develop the skills in people and their dogs. I look forward to talking to you and meeting your family and your dog.

Dog Training

Jane has great suggestions for tools, puzzles, and toys that provide enrichment (and keep dogs busy and happy!). Also I think it’s valuable that coaching class following the training class are included for check-ins for any questions, concerns, and additional training tips. Very responsive over text too!

Dog Training

All of us, including Lucy our pup, really enjoyed Jane’s effortless training expertise & dog-friendly knowledgeable tips. Jane is a natural with dogs and we very much appreciated her patience with our newly adopted 3 1/2 yr. old chihuahua.

Dog Training

Jane goes above and beyond just training your pup. She gives very good suggestions for how to train the dog - but she also provides great ideas for educational toys, feeding routines, and amenities to make pup and parents' lives better. We hired Jane for an initial session and she has followed up with us multiple times with more ideas and tips. We were amazed at how quickly and easily our 4-month micro golden doodle became comfortable with Jane. She has a natural way with animals that is apparent the minute she meets your pet.

Dog Training

Check out all the other trainers then give Jane the call! You will be so happy you did. Jane is my third trainer and the first to truly impress me. She definitely has her own unique style which I'm grateful for. First we spoke on the phone for about an hour discussing my concerns for my dog. Then the next day she arrived and slowly got acquainted with my dog and trained me on how to deal with Marco. Slowly but surely everything's gonna be alright!

Angela, I received your update. I will, as much as possible use your words. After giving Marco the anxiety flower homeopathic, you had a pleasant walk. Congratulations redirecting his Focus To You when he had one incident.  You tried, with help of YouTube to teach him to fetch, but when he doesn't have a favorite toy, it didn't go so well.  Perhaps, fill the sock with treats and just throw it just a foot away..  It will motivateg him to go to the toy. I don't think I have seen that suggestion on YouTube. You have learned quickly after one visit. You  successfully got Marco, without being aggressive, to Drop the splinter shaped piece of bully stick. Great idea that you followed immediately playing the brick game with him.. This is a reward, a bonding experience and fun for you both.  You deserve to have fun with Marco.  We will discuss more fun ideas. With your successes in just one day, I am confident you will strengthen these skills to shape his behavior to have, as you said, better days ahead. I am confident that our conversational updates will continue your facing Marco's challenges with confidence. I am looking forward to speaking to you in the next few days. Throw some treats to Marco for me. Jane

Dog Training

Jane has an innovative approach to training. The first thing she did was to review the issues I had written about involving our two dogs (4 year old Anatolian Shepherd mix and a five month old Border Collie/ Pointer Belgian Shepherd mix). She then scheduled a phone conference (about an hour in length) to discuss the dogs and our issues with both my husband and myself. We then scheduled our first appointment, which lasted about two and a half hours. The dogs responded to her immediately as she assessed their personalities and behaviors through play and interaction. She then began teaching the dogs the concept of "place," leading to sit, down. stand, and a release word, explaining that this would be the basis on all future work on recall and stay. She had us each work with each of the dogs on these skills, and she followed up afterward by phone to make sure we and the dogs were succeeding. In our next session we worked on leash issues with both dogs. We spent most of the lesson out walking around the neighborhood, and again she followed up afterwards with phone calls and texts to make sure we were confident about what we were doing. Jane is fun to work with and very engaging with the dogs. She does research on anything she doesn't know about and stays current with the "best practices" in her field. I highly recommend her for training for your dog.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Training is $160/hour. I offer puppy discounted packages and discounted behavioral packages. Sessions are 1 - 2 hours, most families choose 2 hours to accomplish our set goals. I am available for overnights $100/day. An exception is one hour for a puppy who often gets tired out. I find it most successful to teach pups in increments. I return again after pup has built a strong foundation having learned the first set of skills. After the first session we speak on the phone when needed and there is no charge for this; just want to fine tune the training. We work according to your dog's needs. It is not a set training course, but organic in that we deal with what is going on with the pup. This is short term training, usually one or two visits.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Before we meet, we talk on text/phone discussing the pet parent's concerns. It is just as important that the pet parent develop a relationship before we even meet. Parents want to know and know that we will work on their concerns before we meet. Parents are putting alot of faith and trust in me to in a short time teach them and pets what is needed to have a closer, knowlegeable relationship with their pet.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Masters Degree in Counseling Certification in Pet First Aid and CPR - ProPetHero Certification Red Cross Certification in Adult/Child CPR and First Aid
