Awesome service! My garage door motor died and they came the same day. The tech was friendly, gave me a few motor options, and replaced it for $550. Fast, honest, and great quality work. Highly recommending QuickFix!

🚫 Beware of This Contractor — Feels Like a Scam
On October 16th, 2025, my mother contacted me because her garage door would not close after an iguana became stuck. I have used Thumbtack in the past with great success, so I decided to look for a technician through the platform once again.
I reached out to two providers. One responded promptly and arranged for someone to visit my mother’s home. The technician arrived within an hour, inspected the door, and stated that it was off track and that the springs needed replacement. He initially quoted $500 plus the cost of new springs, but later increased the estimate to $575 for the door repair and an additional $1,575 for labor and heavy-duty springs, bringing the total to over $2,000.
When I questioned the drastic price increase, I told the technician to leave but to leave his business card since I intended to get a second opinion. As he left, he told my elderly parents he would place a lien on their property, which was entirely inappropriate and unprofessional.
Shortly afterward, I received a call from Michael, the individual I had originally spoken to. He stated there was a misunderstanding, but from my perspective, there was none. The technician’s behavior and pricing were unacceptable and appeared to take advantage of vulnerable customers.
Michael later quoted $175 just to put the door back on the track—still high, but I agreed to pay that amount under the condition that the same technician not return. However, I was told they only accepted Zelle, Cash App, credit card, or cash, which raised further concerns. I offered to pay by check for proper documentation, but Michael declined, saying he would “rather lose the job than have an upset customer.”
He then offered to reinstall the old springs for $300, claiming the door would work again, even though the technician had previously stated the springs were no longer usable. At that point, I decided to contact a licensed verified company for a no-fee estimate, which confirmed that my hesitation was justified.
Afterward, I requested that Michael provide proof of contractor licensing and liability insurance should I reconsider. He never responded.
⚠️ My Advice
I didn’t follow my own advice this time and ended up dealing with unprofessional and possibly predatory people.
Based on this experience, I strongly advise others to verify that any professional they hire has multiple verifiable reviews (preferably 30–40 or more with at least a 4.5-star rating). Several reviews will date back to how long the contractor has been in business but more importantly the kind of service they provide based on feedback by actual people.
This company had no written reviews prior to mine, and in my opinion, their conduct and pricing practices raise serious ethical concerns.
I do not recommend this contractor and urge others to exercise caution.
