What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with the client for an initial 90-minute consultation I take a full history to determine their needs - and then we get started by the next session. I typically provide "homework" in the first session for the client to complete to assist me in getting to know them quicker to save time and money in the long run.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Being a clinical psychologist required me to earn a 7-year degree as a doctor. With that said, I also earned TWO Master's degrees (one in Human relations and one in psychology). I have a double doctorate (clinical psychology and forensic psychology). I graduated all with distinction. Further, I have a certification as a coaching practitioner. I keep up with all continuing education and learn from the guru's in relationship counseling (Gottman Relationship Institute), addictions, eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, etc. I have my continuing educational courses listed in my websites.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
I am a doctor of clinical and forensic psychology AND a certified coach practitioner.
Patients can contact me for a free consultation to determine what type of service they need. If patients do not have insurance, I will discuss a reduction in my fees.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I knew at a young age that this field was for me. I always empathized with people who were hurting and I realized that my brain had the capacity to reach a deeper understanding of the issues people were experiencing.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have vast experience working with clients/patients who struggle in their relationships. I am also an expert in the treatment of eating disorders which is the manifestation of problems with control - and struggle with other mental illness such as anxiety disorders (OCD, PTSD, panic, phobias, social phobia, generalized anxiety), addictions, and Mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder).
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Too many to discuss. I am fond of every client I work with who takes this journey to improve/enhance their lives and is able to live life to its fullest. The couples who are on the verge of divorce who are able to put the pieces back together again - fall in love again - and live 'happily ever after' is what makes my dedicated work all worthwhile. With that said, it is true that some of my most successful cases are couples who have separated. I know, I know, that must sound quite awful! I utilize the Gottman Relationship Checkup (based on 40 years of research), a comprehensive relationship analysis, to learn about the depth of the underlying problems within and between the couple. I do not sugar coat anything when treating my clients. With all of my extensive training, if this analysis and my expertise tells me that this couple is more volatile than complimentary, I assist the couple in a formidable break-up - utilizing the appropriate and most effective tools at my disposal. I believe that as an expert, this is the best practice for a psychologist to use when working with couples - as it helps each individual become more healthy and live a more fulfilling lifestyle.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My advice to all clients/patients looking to hire me is to be ready and willing to make significant changes in your life; be open-minded and willing to collaborate with me to meet their goals versus meeting my goals for them.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I wish the public would contact me for a free phone consultation so I can discuss their issues at hand and help them understand the differences in my style compared to others' in my field. I have found that 100% of clients that have seen other therapists prior to seeing me have found my style has benefited them over and above any therapy they have had previously. My rates of recovery have superseded the national average in all areas.
