I highly recommend Dr. Susie. From the first session, I felt a great connection. Dr. Susie is not only wonderful listener, but also a brilliant advisor. She helped me peel back layers to understand not only how and why I was viewing a situation a certain way, but also how and why others might see it differently. After experiencing several disappointing therapy sessions with other psychologists, I am so grateful to have found Dr. Susie. She truly helped me develop a healthy perspective. I leave her office feeling unburdened, optimistic and empowered. I highly recommend her!May 23, 2016Verified

We chose Susie based on her initial, immediate response to us here. We trusted her as a mediator, safe haven, expected respect and confidentiality w a "professional" and wanted to use her expressed expertise on family and relationship counseling to help better us, at a very low point and she only made things worse. She took one side of a "story", not facts and ran on it ignorantly and gave direction to someone who was desperate for help, without facts on that decision. She burdened and hurt our family more and made us take backward steps, instead of any forward positive steps, which was the intention with spending our only $ extra dollars on therapy/life coaching. After weeks of therapy, the only thing I left with was, DO INTENSE RESEARCH, before you choose someone that you put your families safety into, for help. Not all therapists are helpful and truly do not have your families emotional and physical well being in mind, just because of their titles. When confronted, she was defensive and dishonest. This is my opinion, based on personal experiences w this relationship counselor.Apr 6, 2016VerifiedDr. Susie Mendelsohn, PA's reply
Hello Jennifer, I am sincerely sorry you feel this way. It is most important to attend sessions more than twice to gain the benefits of couples therapy in order to grasp an understanding of the foundational problems in the relationship. Therapists can only provide proper counseling if and when: 1) both partners are ready and willing to work together; 2) are honest with themselves and their therapist; 3) desire the same outcome; 4) are willing to follow recommended homework assignments between sessions; and 5) attend appointments on a consistent basis. I wish you the very best of success in the future. Yours in good health, Dr. Susie
My daughter and I both saw Dr Susie for after we experienced a tragedy, and loss. She is a kind, empathic, sincere and caring person. She is honest and extremely warm. Our therapy ended with Dr Susie's relocation to FL. Lucky FL.Jun 27, 2015
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I am a doctor of clinical and forensic psychology AND a certified coach practitioner. Patients can contact me for a free consultation to determine what type of service they need. If patients do not have insurance, I will discuss a reduction in my fees. I do accept insurance plans that are PPO as an out of network provider. Those who have an HMO will have to pay out of pocket as I am not on any insurance panels.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I meet with the client for an initial 90-minute consultation I take a full history to determine their needs - and then we get started by the next session. I typically provide "homework" in the first session for the client to complete to assist me in getting to know them quicker to save time and money in the long run.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Being a clinical psychologist required me to earn a 7-year degree as a doctor. With that said, I also earned TWO Master's degrees (one in Human relations and one in psychology). I have a double doctorate (clinical psychology and forensic psychology). I graduated all with distinction. Further, I have a certification as a coaching practitioner. I keep up with all continuing education and learn from the guru's in relationship counseling (Gottman Relationship Institute), addictions, eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, etc. I have my continuing educational courses listed in my websites.
