Kurt Bartels is definitely a pro! For years I have had a cat door wedged into the track of my sliding glass door. However, hurricane impact windows and sliding glass doors will be installed at the end of June, and I would like the sliding glass doors to fully close and lock. To that end, I went online three months ago to a pet site and ordered a high tech cat door to be installed in a 10 inch exterior masonry wall. Kurt and I had a few conversations over a two-week period. During that time, having sent Kurt a tutorial on how the cat door might be installed through different building materials, we discussed different options. The tutorial also listed a number of supplies and tools that might be needed for the job. Having chosen a possible site, Kurt was hopeful that under the Masonary might be a hollow cinderblock. No such luck; the wall was solid concrete!! Kurt had brought along two concrete cutters with six additional blades. He eventually broke through and when finished, he had knocked out a 35 pound chunk of concrete! It had taken five long sweaty hours, but the results were readily apparent. Instead of a raggedy Jaggedy hole that dimly looked the appropriate shape, Kurt’s knowledge and precision of the job Insured that that hole had been exactly cut 11 1/2 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide! When the cat door was placed in the cut, it fit like a glove. Kurt next anchored the tunnel with concrete screws. He then unrolled the length of supplied carpet, cut it to fit, and installed the olfin carpet down one wall across the floor and up the opposite wall. (This carpet is treated to withstand the growth of mold and pathogens.). Finally, he caulked both sides of the cat door and smoothed it over with a wet sponge for a finished look. I have the highest praise for Kurt Bartel’s install of my high-tech cat door. He has worked as a general contractor with concrete for decades. Kurt agreed to take on this job where other contractors or handyman might have bulked at the prospect. my sincere thanks for the excellent work that was done.

Kurt is the man of your dreams and mine. He is the perfect everything guy. Fixed all my tiny little problems and some big ones. Some plumbing, electrical, random and fence. Hard worker. Isn’t trying to screw people over. For my bigger project he gave me multiple fix options at different price points so I could decide how “fixed” I wanted it within my budget. He’s the best and hopefully he likes me cuz I’m calling him for everything now.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
30 years experience, we accomplish a lot in a small amount of time. Minimum work project is currently $150.00. I typically charge $75.00 an hour for small projects. However please contact me in advance for an estimate on larger installation projects.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We are punctual, clean, and professional. We are looking for repeat clients so we try our best to perform above par and have the experience to do so.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Home designer and floor plans for custom homes. Product design. Trained in too many construction trades to mention, from framing to fine carpentry. Some favorites are, cabinet installation, fencing, light and fan installation, picture hanging, furniture assembly, and doors.
