FAQs
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You can often save money by hiring someone who is willing to be compensated in part by the experience they'll gain from your project (we all started there!), but you'll have to decide if you're okay with your project being their practice. If you've invested your own time and care into a project, be willing to invest in an experienced editor for it, too. Many of us keep our rates fair and competitive (see the Editorial Freelancers Association rates chart), and the level and breadth of expertise we have from putting years into our craft is invaluable.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Editing isn't just for people who are shaky at writing; even the best writers rely on their editors to make their good work become excellent.
