Introduction: Suzanne Saltmarsh's interest in choreography began as a very young child, when she and her neighbor would put on shows at a park in front of the homes in San Marco neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. This interest continues to grow throughout her ballet education in high school and then was solidified with her exposure to contemporary dance at Florida State University. The Saltmarsh began quite laughing for eight days of dance while in college at FSU and performed her own choreography while attending Martha Graham School in New York City. While at Dallas Black Dance Theater, her professional responsibilities often included choreography. Ever since the Saltmarsh formed Saltmarsh Dance in San Francisco California in 1999, choreography has been a daily endeavor. Ms. Saltmarsh's choreography history spans from 1979 to 2014, creating 83 works, 39 large group Ballets, 3 Trios, 6 pas de duet/duets, and 35 solos. Saltmarsh believes that dance can transcend religion, education, culture and economic backgrounds. Dance is a universal language and designed help illuminate and inspire the mind and heart. Educated dancers become vital roles in society, not only within the art as a profession, but also as disciplined contributors on all levels to society.
