Introduction: Preferred Drywall by McDowell & Ariail was established in Jacksonville, Florida in 1971. Partners Billy McDowell and Waldo Ariail launched one of the largest drywall operations in the area that eventually grew into a family operation. Preferred Drywall by McDowell & Ariail was instrumental in the housing growth of the Jacksonville and surrounding areas during the late 1970s and the early 1980s. Many of the new subdivisions in Orange Park, Mandarin, Switzerland and the south side of Jacksonville are McDowell & Ariail jobs. Waldo Ariail is still involved in the strategic direction of the company, while the day-to-day operations are handled by his son Craig Ariail and Jake Fulmer, both principal owners of the Preferred Group.
