Introduction: I hold an associate's degree in programming (this course required completion of courses such as college Calculus I II and III, Physics, Chemistry, Discrete Mathematics, Statistics, English Language and composition), a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in international business, transportation and logistics. My coursework included mathematics, economics, quantitative mathematics, logistics and several business classes. I am working on my master's in public health with a concentration in global health. As a reflective teacher/tutor, I strive for excellence in teaching, and so I consider each aspect of my teaching approach to ensure that I am doing my best to facilitate a student's learning. My teaching approach involves the use of several examples and scenarios (from simple to complex) to ensure that a student can utilize basic concepts to solve complex problems. I also utilize several acronyms that will enable a student to recall formulas and methods for a lifetime. I use the constructive method of teaching, meaning that I believe in helping students relate new knowledge to existing knowledge so that what is learned is meaningful. When this happens, recall and application of knowledge improves. Instilling this approach in elementary students is priceless. On the other hand, I structure my teaching to transmit the required knowledge to the learner. My experience include working with three students with ADD and down syndrome for about 3 years as a teaching assistant immediately after high school. Courses included elementary mathematics, writing and reading, 2 years college tutoring (ESL and mathematics) as a student and working with elementary level students for over 5 years. My focus is on elementary school age children, and I hope you will find my approach to teaching valuable and much needed for your child's education.
