The floors came out great. Had the extra grout cleaning. The house cleaning was not as good as we would have liked. I would hire them for floors again.

We hired Byron, the owner of Precise Services, to clean the tile floor in the two properties that we own. In the home that we live in, he cleaned the tile in the kitchen and the bathrooms. In the rental property, he cleaned the tile for the entire house (1700 Sq Ft). We got quotes from different companies since we wanted to make sure we were getting a fair price. Byron's quote including both properties was extremely competitive. Most importantly, he did an outstanding job cleaning the grout. The tile was extremely dirty in both properties before he professionally cleaned it, and we were amazed by the way it turned out. It is a completely different floor! My husband and I would also like to mention that Byron was extremely professional and concerned in providing great service, and even ran 2 to 3 passes over a particularly difficult spot to ensure it was clean. We would definitely hire him again!

Orlando was awesome. He came out same day and installed lighting under the kitchen cabinets. He also fixed the electrical outlet covers that were left unfinished by the last contractor that worked on the backsplash. Great communication, walked right in and immediately started working on the project. I would hire Orlando for additional projects.

Jerry was great. Very professional and showed up on time. He replaced a kitchen sink faucet and a kitchen cabinet flooring that had rotted due to water damage. He explained all of the work he did, faucet operation, and cleaned up after the job. I plan to call him for future services and I recommend him highly.

I had a leaking issue with the pipe underneath my double kitchen sink, where all the pipes had to be re-designed and re-built. 1st of all, Mike came to my home just on time as promised, something you cannot experience these adays. He studied the issue and the environment he would be working at in detail. He is a very organized individual with a great project design mentality.. He explained in detail what needed to be done and what kind of extra supplies were needed. He went to pick those up and returned in no time..Completed the task as he described before starting the project. Cleaned up the place as well. It took him only a little more than an hour which was amazing! Very respectful, worked at a timely manner, does not charge you for extras, very good work ethic..I would recommend Mike to everyone, especially who have plumbing issues as well as air duct cleaning, dryer cleaning, etc.

I had a clogged kitchen sink. I have had this issue, ongoing for several years. One person guaranteed that it was going to be fixed. He was one before Paul. Needless to say, they did not. Before that three others. One said it was because my septic tank needed to be cleaned. Did that. Then they said $350 to "blow" out my pipes. $350 an hour! NO!!!! Called in another plumber. He snaked it . 10 minutes later, he says he can't do it and to call someone with electric tools. SMH So in desperation, I finally after days of trying to baby it, and nothing working, I finally decided to try yet again to find, hopefully, what in my mind was a fair, reasonable and honest plumber, I happened onto Thumbtack. Thank you. I filled out the request, and not really expecting much to be honest. Within an hour I received a bid. A very very reasonable price from only one and it was Paul. He offered to come the next morning, which happened to be Labor Day. I did not answer for two days, and after receiving a reminder, I finally agreed, I am so happy that I did. Paul is exactly whaI had a clogged kitchen sink. I have had this issue, ongoing for several years. One person guaranteed that it was going to be fixed. He was one before Paul. Paul is exactly who I had hoped for...pleasant, professional, fair, reasonable and honest. He came in and started right away with the electric snake. He said he could feel it. He worked with it a while. Then he used the industrial water ram (I had to look it up...lol). All this time he is visually monitoring the flow of water. Waiting for it to whirlpool down the drain. Then, finally, he brought out the handy dandy old-fashioned plumbers' tool...yep, a plunger. He then worked with his body weight to plunge through the rest of the clog he'd broken with his other tools. Finally, THE WHIRLPOOL!! He ran the water several minutes. It has been great to wash dishes all at once. Not having to wash in intervals, waiting for the water to drain. If that wasn't enough, he offered to clean up the mess AND TO put everything back under the sink. I appreciated the offer, but told him that I would do it...happily. I will definitely recommend him to my family and friends. I RECOMMEND HIM TO ANY AND ALL THAT READ THIS REVIEW. THANK YOU PAUL!! THANK YOU THUMBTACK!

Stan has done more than my original project I set out on thumbtack. He is honest, fair and reasonably priced. He started with minor plumbing then removing my backsplash and counters. Then putting up new drywall where my backsplash was and replacing it. I will hire him next to build a 15'x14' composite deck in my backyard bar area.

I contacted Randy December 2015 initially to install pre-made kitchen cabinets. When he came to give the proposal he saw all the work we wanted to do in addition and said he could accommodate us. Randy removed the old cabinets installed new cabinets attached the hardware and even made some custom niches. He changed all the lighting, put up a back splash, new faucet and finished with a complete paint job. The microwave was also installed by Randy. While I was waiting for the countertop to be installed he thoughtfully plumbed in a temporary sink so I could work in the kitchen. Randy is very meticulous in his work ethic and has a critical eye. Before doing anything he always consulted me as to the placement of cabinets, hardware and tiles etc. Randy cleaned up after his work and always answered my calls. I would hire him again for other jobs.

Julio is amazing. We had a bad contactor who almost ruined our trim and kitchen cabinets. Julio fixed it, and it was a mess for him yet he did it with a smile, professionally, and so clean considering what he had to do. I would recommend him for painting, but also he did other things for us to help fix what the contractor did wrong. Cannot say enough of how great he is. HIRE JULIO if you want it done right.

Matt has taken care of all my home maintenance needs since 2009--no job has been too small or too large and work and clean-up was done quickly. He installed a knocked down mail box to constructing a see through from living room to kitchen which involved moving two pipes, drywalling and painting. He installed a new dishwasher and installed water valves for icemaker kit. He changed out copper shut off valve to toilet that was leaking. He replaced bottom of bathroom vanity that was ruined from water damage. A video camera was installed outside. Wiring for internet was installed and even hooked up new computer and got me started on using it. Roof leak was repaired and screens were re-screened and painting was done. He installed an attic fan. He even taught me how to clean sediment out of water heater. Matt does professional work at a fair price. Dottee Temple Terrace

We had Select Quality reface our cabinets. David came in and went right to work. He did a very professional job, cleaned up afterward and hauled away all debris. He was on time and finished in one weekend. Our kitchen looks great and our homes value has been greatly increased. We would recommend Select Quality Cabinets to anyone needing cabinet work.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How long does it take to get your ducts cleaned?

The amount of time air duct cleaning takes can depend on how extensive your duct system is, how old your air ducts are, and whether they have ever been cleaned. On average, expect a standard size home (between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet) to take 2-5 hours for one to two technicians to clean. Here are the proper protocol and equipment you should expect from a professional duct cleaning service, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency:

        • All doors and access ports opened to ensure the entire duct system is inspected and cleaned.
        • Thorough system inspection prior to cleaning to identify possible asbestos-containing materials. If asbestos is present, specially trained and equipped contractors must do the removal.
        • Use of approved vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of your house. If the vacuum exhausts inside your home, it must be HEPA equipment.
        • Furnishings and carpet covered and protected.
        • Soft-bristled brushes only on fiberglass duct board and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass.
        • Ductwork properly protected.
        • Adherence to guidelines and practices set down by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.

How much does it cost to have your air ducts cleaned?

If you’re concerned about dust, allergens or mold, it may be time to have your air ducts cleaned. The national average cost for air duct cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Air duct cleaning costs will vary based on a number of factors such as your location in the country, the age and condition of your air ducts, the number of linear feet to be cleaned, and any repairs your ducts may need. HVAC cleaning companies should clearly outline what is included in their services and at what rate, so always make sure you understand and have a written agreement before work begins. Here are some examples of average air duct cleaning costs:

        • Tiered pricing for different levels of service:
          • Standard cleaning: $100, which may include truck-mounted industrial vacuums, high-pressure air wands and air snakes to clean all supply and return vents, branch lines, and main trunk lines.
          • Advanced cleaning: $200, which may include standard cleaning services, plus rotobrush or viper clean sweep in the main trunk lines.
          • Ultimate cleaning: $400, which may include advanced cleaning, plus insertion of a viper microline into all vents to force debris down the branch lines and into the main trunk lines, to be handled by the viper clean sweep. Typically, all ductwork surface is contacted, before-and-after photos are provided, and the furnace is cleaned.
        • A flat rate for unlimited vents: $289.
        • Additional fees for larger houses: $20 for each additional 500 square feet over 2,500.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
