Inquired about dance lessons for our upcoming wedding. Yamilah has been wonderful so far and we have only taken two classes!! She has been so responsive from the very beginning and always makes herself available when its convenient for our schedules. We provided her with our first dance song and she has created choreography for us which is a huge help as we are not able to come up with that ourselves. We can't wait to continue our classes with Yamilah! I will absolutely spread the word and recommend her to everyone!! Will post again once we have completed all our lessons!

Donna Shelley is amazing! She is the best dance teacher I ever saw. She took my youngest brother in hand and gave him dance lessons for his Bar Mitzvah. She not only taught him to dance, but she choreographed and taught him to do a Mother/Son dance for his Bar Mitzvah, which means she also had to teach my Mother. The combined effort took about 4 months, a task that we, my Dad, my family thought would be impossible, but we were wrong, she did it, and it was a success all around.

IdaKati Pilates was by far the best Pilates instruction I have experienced. Being a professional dancer in the Los Angeles County I am constantly looking for ways to keep my body in tact and aligned during off seasons and have attended many different pilates studio around the area. Working with IdaKati who is also a dancer I found the deepest connection between the exercises I was given and my muscles not to mention her fun and encouraging attitude made me feel that anything was possible. Not only did we engage in pilates exercises we spent the last 15minutes doing personalized stretching routine she created specifically for my better overtime during our session. I always leave IdaKati feeling ten times better than I walked in. I was struggling with back issues for about 3 years after working with IdaKati my back no longer has any issues at all. IdaKati is the pilates instructor you have been looking for!! I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

    About

I teach not rule. I let my students learn at their own pace and not in a rush. I like to motivate and give confidence to my students.

    About

I am teaching others how to dance. They can tell me the song they want to dance to and I come up with the dances.

    About

As a dancer, I enjoy showing my craft. However, as a teacher, I get to share my craft with you. I can teach you choreography to pieces that I have made, or if you're just starting out as a dancer, I can teach you basic movements that you may take anywhere with you, so when you're out with friends, you can bust out moves to fully express how you feel at that given moment. I will also inform you of tiny details that I have learned through my 6 years of dancing that I wish someone told me about earlier, but I had to learn it by going through the difficult route. How quickly you apply all the information into your mind naturally helps shape you into a better dancer. It's best for me to travel to you so that you are in the comfort of your own home, and you are in a judgement-free zone. I'm here to build you as a more confident dancer.

    About

My work stands out because I understand the many parts of teaching. Many young teachers as well as older teachers don't have patience. They also don't understand that people learn differently and that knowledge has helped me with different approaches to both fast and slow learners... Even when I'm teaching them at the same time. I am also very fun and silly, helping a child or adult feel comfortable is an important part to teaching. 97% of the children and adults i've taught from beginner to professional have left that experience doing things they never thought they could. That is what sets me a part from the rest!

    About

I have been learning and working with some of the best choreographers, instructors and performers in this industry. I have attended many workshops such as those given by Mia Micheals (as seen on So You Think You Can Dance), Miami Heat, Miami Dolphins and Miami Marlins dancers, Todrick Hall, as well as other performers. Through my learning sand work experience I have learned what works well and what does not. I have been taught since the age of 4 to dance, act and model. At the age of 5 I began singing and 10 I began playing the trumpet. I have often been told I am very fun and kind. I am very down to earth. I DO NOT believe in "I can't" and am a strong believer of "I can". You can accomplish anything you put your mind to as long as you have the passion and the drive.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios. If you choose a small-group class, expect to pay less than for individual dance lessons.
