This company is unreliable, unprofessional and their business ethics are mediocre at best. My general outline to present to the public and to get straight to the point is that during my move, they damaged nearly $8,000 worth of my familys property. As a result of their inadequate and careless behavior, they disfigured (and the word is appropriate in this case) at least 85% of all items. I have proof in the form of photos generated at drop off and after this move was completed. We are a family of four, including twin boys, hence, the array of personal belongings that we have is plentiful. I am not going to focus, however, just mention, that they did not finish the move in the appropriate time on the same day and that I had to pay for a brand new second move, as they could only return three days later. I have tried to reason with them and be forthcoming, believing that they would understand the situation and try to make good on this matter. However, this is not the case. The only thing this company is good for, is shelling out excuses, in the form of polite answers as can been witnessed by other reviews on the Better Business Bureau website and other websites. As a result for most, there is no resolution in any of the cases dealing with this company. In my own situation related to the damages as described above, they are referring to the 60 cents per pound liability clause that is outlined in their contract, stating that they are not responsible for anything beyond this. However, what they neglect to take into consideration is that statistically, moving is one of the two most stressful things in life, the second being the death of a loved one. During this difficult period, most people like myself, would like to only see the move completed in the most effective way with the best end result and handling a long contract at the start of the move from the mover to me, and me to my attorneys for review is not a main priority at that specific time, as the move would not begin without a signature on this contract; a sort of a Catch-22 if you will. In their own defense, Orange Movers claim that my move consisted of many more items than what was originally stated during the estimate and that they did not charge extra for this. I strongly disagree with this statement, as I find it to be nothing more than a ploy to circumvent the obvious. I have offered them the opportunity before the move to assess anything they needed; however, as I understand now, it is not in their standard practice to do so. They would rather quote one price over the telephone and charge differently at time of the actual move, leaving the customer with not much of a choice. Furthermore, in my situation, the supervisor asked me to take care of the movers, meaning to tip them well, in order to compensate them for their extra work, which I didnt understand what that extra work would be, as a moving job is working in its entirety. I tipped them well, but for their work overall as I saw sweat and determination to get things done, however, this was before we had actually unpacked anything and saw the great amount of damage done. Orange movers has tried to push the blame buck around, stating that it is not their fault and they are not responsible for mostly anything during the moving process. Then, who is? They have tried to offer me an amusing sum to cover these damages; $183 at first, then $300, and a final offer of $375 on a condition of release and that I not publish any negative information about them, as this would constitute that they are trying to buy this off. Also, they are claiming that they are including items that are not even covered according to their contract in fine print. This is after causing nearly $8,000 in damages to furniture, personal belongings, items that are of everyday use to my children. I told them flat out that I find this offer offensive, unethical and amusing at best. At this point, and being the obvious, the $375 is not worth anything in comparison to our losses.
