I didn't get in touch with Alan until a bit later in the day and his schedule was tight. I wasn't in a rush and said he could reschedule to the next morning if that was better. He showed up the next morning a few minutes early, the scree was replaced in about 20 minutes. the phone looks like new and works as expected. I'll definitely contact him if i ever need to replace or repair a phone again.
