About
I have been traveling and teaching abroad this last year but am now back in Miami teaching in my studio in Miami but not remotely so please live in the Miami area.. I enjoy working with singers of all ages and levels including beginners but my predominant interest is in the classical method of singing and my love of classical music and music theater which formed the basis of my own performing and teaching career and in working with singers who share that interest. Before coming to Miami, I successfully taught voice, repertoire and coached privately on the faculties of the Universidad Nacional in Bogota and the Escuela Nacional de Arte Lirica in Montevideo and privately in New York City.
In teaching, I draw on my years as a professional singer in concert, opera and music theater in finding a free, easy and natural way of singing, of building technique, working on interpretation, etc. I love to teach and feel very happy in sharing my ideas and all that I've learned through the years.

Lewis is very knowledgeable and supportive. I am someone who has always wanted to sing but never fully committed until recently. Lewis has solidified my conviction, broadened my understanding of singing, and has given me the needed encouragement to keep at it.

I was skeptical at first but after attending some of his lessons you start to realize that this guy knows what he's doing and only wants what's best from his students. If there was a friend that needed a singing instructor, I'd point toward Lewis.

Recently had my first lesson with Lewis and I can't wait for my next! I really appreciate his style and approach to his lessons, he is able to recognize and communicate what you can do to get the most out of your own vocal performance. I immediately felt comfortable to fail in front of him, to try new things and hit bumps along the way; there's no judgement in his lessons. He's been incredible at reminding you of little things that will eventually become healthy habits for your voice in a way that isn't overwhelming or distracting. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to finely tune their voice--their instrument!

Had an amazing first session. Was actually really nervous for my first vocal lesson and Lewis made me feel comfortable and taught me so much in so little time. I will be doing weekly lessons from this point forward

Lew was great. This was my first lesson ever and I loved that he was very patient with me. While pushing me to find my voice. I was here in Miami for Christmas and took only a few lessons. After the first lesson I felt so much better with voice. I recommend Lew, he is very professional and knowledgeable. He teaches many vocal warm ups that come in handy and lets you record parts of the lesson; so you can practice anywhere! He has a classical approach in training but that is always great. I was very pleased with Lew's help :)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We always have a short visit and talk first. Singing is such a personal thing that I feel it's very important to get to know each student's voice thoroughly, his or her musical needs and ambitions and where I can be of the most positive help in freeing and improving each voice, solving individual vocal problems and, above all, building confidence; one beautiful tone leads to many, many more. Singing should be a wonderfully liberating experience.

My years of performing and work with some great teachers and coaches in New York, Europe and in South America; also, my years of teaching students of all ages and levels is in itself a great learning experience.
