I hired Lori to house sit/pet sit while we were out of town. I could not have been happier. My house looked better than when I left it and my pets were super well taken care of. I've now booked Lori for all my out of town stays. She's the best.

When I went to my daughter's wedding in Denver, Jaime from B & K Pet Sitting took care of my aging dog. My dog has many health issues and I was afraid to leave her because she requires frequent medications. I was also afraid that she would not eat and her health would worsen. Jaime put my concerns to rest. She kept Markie properly medicated and got her to eat. While I was gone, we had lots of storms which make Markie somewhat anxious. Jaime comforted and petted her to keep her calm. I have been reluctant to leave Markie with anyone. This is no longer the case. I know if I have to be away, Jaime and B & K Pet Sitting will be the people taking care of Markie because they truly give her the same level of care that I myself would provide. I enthusiastically recommend them to anyone who needs pet sitting, especially if the pet requires extra attention.

Alex pet sat for me over the weekend. When I got home Sunday night, dogs were all happy, could care less that I was home. I think she may have paid more attention to them than their mother does. Previously she had come over to help me do a through spring cleaning. Could not be more pleased with the results. She was very careful with my fragile figurines and never stopped working. What a delight. Alex was prompt, pleasant and a true pleasure to have over the house. So nice to have someone you can trust in your home when you are away.

I needed to board my puppy on a short notice, due to short notice from my landlord to perform termite extraction for entire building. She saved me! I am very grateful, not only was she professional , but very gentle with my puppy. She sent me daily updates with pictures, and even extended my puppies stay when my condo was not completed on time. I most definitely recommend her services! My puppy gained a new friend! Thank you Mrs. Shar! - Ivana and Maya

Cookie did a wonderful job with my Whiskers! I was going away for a week and I was very leery of leaving my baby with anybody but cookie Kane to meet with me we talked for almost an hour getting to know each other and she sent me pictures every single day that she was here showing me how well my baby was doing and reassuring me that he would not be mad when I got home she is an excellent pet sitter and I would definitely recommend her and I will definitely be hiring her every time I go away she's got a wonderful personality and a great way with animals I'm very glad that we met!!! V.I.C. is awesome! My pet sitter of 8 years just retired so this was my first time with them but it will certainly not be my last. They are keepers! On top of all the other outstanding qualities I have checked, I loved the feedback provided online by the sitter daily, complete with pictures. It meant a lot to be able to get an update and see my furry ones! Of course everything was perfect when we got home.

Linda is an amazing pet sitter. She has gone above and beyond the call of duty to take care of our “little ones” when we have been on vacation. And since the dogs are getting up in age, she also comes over once a day while we are at work, to let them out. We highly recommend Linda’s Critter Sitters. We wouldn’t trust anyone else with our “babies!”

    About

As a stay-at-home mom with older children, I have a little more free time to be able to spend with your pets.

    About

I do pet services out of my home. I will watch your pet while you are away. I have a fenced-in backyard, and we can go for daily walks. We have water play everyday, and I love to be able to go outside, and just run and play with the dogs. I charge $50 a week, and $10 a day at my home. If you would like me to come to your home, then it would be $20 a day. But I am unable to stay at your home overnight. I can go to your home, and check on your animals, and give them everything they will need, but I can't stay overnight. Please let me know if you would like my services. Thanks.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
