FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is fairly basic: per hour or per page, sometimes per project if it is known what the project entails. It is difficult to price per project without viewing the manuscript first or at least discussing it on the phone with the author.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Good editing and proofreading do not need continuing ed, in my opinion. There have been stylistic changes over the years, "new" words in the OED, but I think some of this is pretentious and trendy.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Many years ago, I was asked to fill in for a proofreader on an overtime basis. I liked the work so much that I decided to pursue it on a full-time basis and then continued onto editing and quality control.
