Introduction: Dog training is NOT a regulated field- this means that anyone, regardless of experience and knowledge, can call themselves a trainer and offer their services. This leaves a potential client none the wiser as to the capabilities of who they hire. When you hire me to come to your home, you can rest assured that I am backed by international organizations that are endorsed by veterinarians the world over, use only non-forceful methods for training (no shock, no choking, no prongs, no leash corrections, no hitting, no yelling, etc), keep current on the latest developments in canine behavior science, and have the scientific education that will ensure that you and your dog can learn effectively: - I have been hand-picked by Victoria Stilwell, host of "It's Me or the Dog", to form part of her international Victoria Stilwell Positively Dog Training team. - I hold certifications that prove that I understand and am fluent in the application of learning theory, canine behavior, and applied behavior analysis (KPA CTP, CPDT-KA). -I'm also a member the Pet Professional Guild, an international pet professional organization that adheres to training without the use of force, intimidation, pain, or bullying. - I am a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Behavior and Training and a Certified Training Partner of the same: one of the most recognized names in the animal behavior world that also requires its partners to use gentle, non-forceful methods in training only. - With a Bachelor and Masters degrees in science, I'm not impressed by the application of any type of training that has not been subjected to the scientific method. Science works, and that is the only thing I will bring to any type of training that I do. Make no mistake, dog training really is a science. Only through understanding it and applying its principles will it really work, and do so in a safe manner that will allow families to peacefully coexist with their best friends in the most successful interspecies relationship this planet has known. The most rewarding part of helping people and their dogs has to be when the dog gets that "a-ha!" moment where you see that he understands what you are looking to teach him. Followed closely is when my clients see how brilliant their dog really is, and when they see how magical it seems when the line of communication opens between two species: the human and the canine.
