Here is a panoramic view of the great room finished by 360. They also did our front room but not prepared to take pictures yet but transformed the look of the home. We will add more photos once we have everything put together. My husband and I are pleased with the outcome of the initial phase. The professionalism of Jeffrey and followup during the project was noticed ... we also had other projects with other contractors and 360 accommodated with our timeline, staggered the scope, and helped us stay within budget while conducting business with them. We are now and will be repeat customers and place another review upon completion of the final phase. We would recommend 360 to others.

Dan is the ultimate in honesty and integrity. Our project was delayed because Dan required surgery on his back (not caused by our project). As soon as Dan was able to call he tried to find another contractor to help complete our project. Everything Dan does is with the best intentions of the customer. I have no hesitation in recommending him.

I hired Arijiatos to put up drywall in between two bedrooms (the previous owner had removed it) and I said I needed it done quickly because my husband got a new job and we need to move and get the house ready quickly to list. They were able to schedule to begin the project two days after the initial quote and the job was done well and quickly and the workers were nice and respectful. We are now hiring them for more drywall work as well as flooring we need done. Thank you for helping us so quickly!!!

I just wanted to leave few words about the shopping experience we had with Nelson. Our project was a complete repainting and reflooring of our house plus few other minor improvements. While we did not award this project to Nelson and his team I want to say thank you to him for being very thorough with the project, answering all of our question and providing competitive quote. He was very professional and helpful with all of our requirements and he was out first choice out of 4 contractors to do this project. Thank you and good luck. Steve

Juan was absolutely fantastic to have. He painted the entire inside of out Home, the garage door, front door, and window shutters for us. All was done with absolute professionalism. Also, we had to move his start date multiple times because of other contractors taking longer than expected and he was always open and willing to be flexible with us. Thanks again!!!

Lou did an excellent job on my repairs. He responded with any questions I had immediately. He went out of his way to save me money, not trying to upsell me or charge for costly replacements that weren't necessary. His work was great, he cleaned everything up and I could not be happier. He did drywall repair, replaced a garbage disposal and faucet, and fixed a light. He even rescued two lizards from my house from facing certain doom with the dog - he's a friend to nature! I will definitely call Cordero Services in the future for help with household repairs.

Dave & Paul did work in our master bedroom, removing the ceiling tiles that were there and redoing the drywall. They added a coffered ceiling which is beautiful. We love our new ceiling! Only thing keeping them from a 5-star rating is the amount of dust cleanup we had to do after the job.

I hired Jeff to install two fans that another contractor could not do. The first fan had so many wires attached that Jeff had to test them all and determine where they were going. Then he took the old box out and put in a new one. He ran into several problems but he did not give up! Then , moving to the second fan. this one had even more issues. My ceiling was damaged by Irma and the contractor that fixed my ceiling closed up the hole where the ceiling fan was. Jeff had to make a new opening and install a new box. Then, there was a part missing and Jeff went to his truck and fashioned the missing part out of what he had in his truck. Then he put it together and started the fan but it was wobbling, so, Jeff took it apart and started over. Jeff tested out every part of this fan until he had it up and working perfectly. He does not give up at all. He will find a way to make it work. I would highly recommend him to do the projects that you have to do. You will not be disappointed!!!

I appreciated very much Manny’s professionalism, and good character. I trusted Manny and Eduardo with painting my new house without me being in town. Manny kept me updated and sent me pictures and videos of the job. They left my house clean and ready for us to move in. The job was accomplished quickly and with attention to detail. I would recommend MMC Painting to anybody that would like a contractor that can be trusted.

Mabel and her team are AMAZING! Provided a quick and accurate quote. Very punctual and professional. Even worked in 80+ degree INDOOR heat after they arrived at the property and the power was mistakenly turned off. She responds quickly and politely and is honest! Tells you like it is. Have already hired her and her team to work on our new house MORE and plan to continue to do so. I definitely recommend hiring her. Her professional versatility is near unmatched; which is very welcoming...since many contractors are looking to be deceitful. Thanks Mabel!

Had a small drywall repair project. Due to a humid morning trying to do the work, the repair took longer than expected with mud not setting-up. Dan didn't complain that the job took longer then expected. When it was taking much longer than expected, he offered to come back a second time to finish up. No complaints about the multiple trips or that my quick project ended up taking twice as long. The drywall patches look very good and blend in well. The price was very reasonable - much more reasonable then other drywall repair specialists.

We just had two exterior doors replaced and Jason did a great job. He was one of the few contractors that returned our call for the job, he came out for the initial bid and for the installation exactly when he said he would. He was prompt, professional, courteous, reasonably priced and did a great job. We would not hesitate to hire this company again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

  • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
  • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

  • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
  • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
  • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
