Treatment type
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I've been told by my clients that they value my knowledge, attention to detail, my ability to isolate the source of their pain quickly, and how comfortable they feel during the massage treatments. I always do an assesment with each client to more effectively zero in on the source of their pain. I also keep notes so if the same pain returns months or years later, I can more quickly provide them with pain relief. I find it very rewarding to help someone that is suffering from soft tissue pain, return to their normal activities. So many clients have come to me that are frustrated, even depressed because they can't do their job or play their sport or even go through the day without being in pain. I love it when I read back through their treatment notes and ask them about specific pain patterns they had when they first visited and they say, "oh I forgot that used to hurt". That's when I know I've helped them.

I am a receptionist for a living. I spend about seven hours on the phone and computer and developed some neck and shoulder pain. I contacted Creative Bodyworks about a month ago and spoke with the owner and therapist Joel Rayburn. I told him about my pain and he said that it could be created from that type of work. So I scheduled a 90 minute appointment for later that day. I was so happy to hear that he had some availability in the same day. His office is very nice and professional looking. He then showed me to the treatment room where he asked me if I had any other issues that need to be to be addressed. During the massage he talked to me and shared with me what he was doing and what all he was treating. He explained to me that a lot of different muscles and tendons that connect all around the body and can cause different types of pain. He assisted with all the pain I was having and I got a lot of relief. He always assures that you should not be in pain during the massage. He has a pain scale and he does not want you to go above it. After the massage he showed me some stretches that I can do to help prevent the issue from returning and also gave me suggestions I should do to assist at work so I don’t put extra strain on my neck and shoulders. I now see Joel about once a month for maintenance work. Thank you Joel for all you help.

Joel is extremely knowledgeable in his craft. You get more than just a relaxing massage, but rather the knowledge that your pain is being targeted by a completely thorough understanding of muscle groups, such as how they interact with and against each other, and possible complementary therapy to go along with massage therapy such as neuromuscular therapy. By asking what type of pain you're experiencing (sharp, dull, stabbing, numbing, etc.) Joel is able to assess an injury and target it specifically. I was in pain for several days, but when Joel came to the rescue he was able to ask the pertinent questions to determine what type of injury or muscle ache I had.
