Introduction: I have been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years and been a pastry chef for 18 years. Quality of product and customer service are my main goals. Making things look good is one thing, but they have to be as delicious as they are beautiful - after all, well it is said that we eat with our eyes! What I like the most is just how fun and creative it can be. I absolutely love the science behind cooking and baking. As a pastry chef understanding how ingredients works is crucial. I am never bored with my work, whether I am teaching someone what happens when you add too much butter in a cookie, or building a 5 foot solid chocolate sculpture...I still continue to learn, and just plain love it.

I worked with Chef Martin for 6- 1/2 years. She is an extraordinary individual to work for, always patient and willing to teach and help you improve your skills and knowledge. Her passion for the Pastry Arts is always present with her quality and ethics of her work routine. I considered Chef Martin my Mentor.

Sofelle Confections baked both our wedding and grooms cakes. They were by far the best cakes we have ever tasted and our guests are still talking about them. They were not only great to eat, but they were works of art. The entire planning process was smooth and easy. Lucy was flexible and made things fun. I am so glad that she was part of our wedding family and will use her for every future family event. Thank you!

We chose Chef Lucy Martin from Sofelle Confections to make us a cake for our wedding and we could not have been happier with our decision. She did an amazing job and made it a very fun and creative experience with lots of options for what she could do. She was open to any and all ideas and made a masterpiece that was definitely a show stopper at our wedding.

I started out in the Theater as an actress. After a while I just knew I wanted to stay in a creative field but using my hands and love for all things pastry. So I attended pastry school in Manhattan, had the time of my life, and never looked back.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

When I worked in hotels I designed and executed desserts for groups in the 1000's as well as casual, and fine dining. Since I started my own company however, mostly I am catering cakes. Wedding cakes are always in demand, but now clients are also looking for show stopping birthday cakes, anniversary cakes, and all around special occasion cakes.
