Introduction

Learning the piano should be fun - my students look forward to their lessons and truly enjoy what they learn. I want my students to develop a lifelong love of playing the piano and understand that this is a skill that they will always have. I earned my music/history degree at UCSD. I have been teaching for almost 40 years. The Winter School of Piano is ranked as one of Thumbtack's Best of 2015-2018 in the lessons category as a result of great customer reviews. We were also recognized as one of Steinway Piano's Best Teachers. I have an extensive library of classical, jazz, and contemporary music that I am happy to share with my students. I offer a free trial lesson and 10% family discount for multiple students.

It's been awesome having piano lessons with Ms. Doreen. She's such a friendly teacher, she has been incredibly patient to an adult beginner like me. I've had so much fun and knowledge attending her lessons. My piano playing skill is about to become better week by week.

Mrs. Winter is amazing!!! She has helped my children (ages 6 and 9) learn to love the piano by making it a fun and rewarding experience. She is so patient with them and accepts them for who they are. She also makes them completely accountable for practicing, bringing their books and arriving to lessons on time. You can tell that she loves her job and I'm so grateful for how far she has helped my children progress these past 6 months. Thank you Mrs. Winter!!

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $45 for 1 hour lesson, $35 for a 45 minute lesson and $25 for a 1/2 hour lesson. I offer 10% discounts for multiple family members and for more than one lesson weekly.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
All students are individuals and have different goals for their music education. I get to know my students and what they hope to get out of their lessons and plan the lessons based on this.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a private piano teacher since 1982 and was trained by world renowned pianist and conductor, Dr. Leslie Hodge . I have a BA in music/history from the University of California San Diego.
