WARNING: Unsure if this is an actual "construction company"... I hired Jay aka "Jao/John", to do my laminate wood flooring. He had the most reasonable price, and he truly seemed like an up front and nice guy. However, things slowly started to unravel with his professionalism, customer service, and the quality of his work. It took Jao and his helper 3 1/2 weeks to "complete" a job he advised my friend and I would take 3 to 5 days. I say "complete" because the job technically still isn't done. I have multiple pictures I wish I could post showing gaps in the laminate, poorly applied caulk, nail holes on the transitions, a stair nose unevenly positioned, etc. He also added charges that weren't in his original quote for things we thought were guaranteed with the job, i.e. nail glue, caulk. And when he hacked up our baseboards around the stairway and in two of the room's, we thought he would repair, but he had us to buy the paint, and recommended we buy the baseboard as well to replace what he damaged. He then advised us, "I saved you money" because he removed the baseboards and didn't request we purchase the quarter round. We are still trying to understand this. I would like to note that it did take an additional two days for the laminate wood we wanted to come in...which is the excuse he gave us as to why the job took so long. Truth is... he would not show up on scheduled days, and he left early often. He seemed to be managing multiple projects. Additionally, he offered to assist us with multiple projects around our home, i.e. granite install, crown molding, but he never followed through with any of them. I recall him initially telling us he had a four man crew and would get our job done right away, but the only crew we ever saw was him, and one other gentleman he introduced as his helper. One evening myself and two friends arrived at my home to drop off a few personal items, it was roughly around 9:00 p.m - 9:30 p.m.. at night. We hadn't completely moved in because we were waiting on the flooring, and to our surprise and shock, we found his friend sitting on the floor inside our home. When he noticed me peering through the window, he jumped up and ran through the back door. When my friend's and I confronted him, he said that he was "waiting on a ride." We told Jao about this and he completely dismissed the incident, as he did with many of our concerns. He stated, "he was working," which clearly was not the case. When we requested a discount off of his rate for the poor workmanship, and lack of professionalism, i.e. constantly leaving early, not responding to any emails, he completely ignored our requests. There was one room in our home he offered to do the flooring on for what seemed to be a reasonable cost. He did the job, then later presented us with a contract that was more than $100 higher than he originally quoted. When we refused to pay the additional cost, he threatened to put a lien on our home!!! It was non-stop shock and awe working with Jao. I recall asking him multiple times for his office address and license number, which he never provided. This, has definitely been a learning experience... but from what I hear, this is pretty common with contractors. Right?

Jay and his team completed the job quickly, efficiently and very professionally and at an affordable price. I would work with them again.
