Introduction

I'm totally passionate about helping students master the English language. As a volunteer at the library in Ft. Lauderdale,I taught ESL. I've been teaching ever since 1976 when I graduated with a B.S. degree from Bob Jones University. I am trained by ABEKA Academy to teach phonics, reading, spelling, writing, arithmetic, language, history, science and subjects like music and art to grades K-6. Here are the Thumbtack services I offer: ESL lessons Reading and Writing Tutoring Writing and Editing (Can be remote/internet) Piano lessons in your home My own daughter homeschooled for 10 years, skipped 7th grade, and got straight A's in public H.S. and college. Then she immediately got a job teaching Special Ed. and bought her own condo. Success! I recently taught two children a year of ABEKA Homeschooling. They ended up with a B+ and an A+ overall average. I'm a new student of Ms. Connie and she is a fantastic teacher! She is very encouraging and teaches in a relaxed and fun way, which I believe is one of the most important qualities in a teacher. When I first met her I could tell she absolutely loves teaching! Looking forward to many lessons with Ms. Connie!

Connie is an excellent piano teacher. I took lessons from her for over 6 months and have to stop because i am moving out of state. Over that period, i learned a lot , i made huge progress in my piano playing. Her method of teaching is practical and free flowing, she encourages spontaneity, self expression during performance, and she is not caught in making student play to be perfect but instead encourages playing to create beautiful music and interpretation. Her approach to piano teaching is to facilitate progression and artful performance instead of adherence to structure and perfection. I will miss having lessons from her and i am hopeful, though someone like Connie is rare, that i will find a similar teacher like her in the future.

Connie is very down to Earth and easy to talk to! I felt very comfy sitting down to my first piano lesson. Having no experience as a 33 year old woman, she has the patience of an angel. I look forward to many more sessions with Connie! ?

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I just need enough per week to be able to pay my mortgage, for my car & bills and food. So I need $20 for 8 hrs a day,5 days a week of hard work of explaining what to do, affirming, grading papers, doing fun activities, planning, asking comprehension questions, doing science experiments, music time, reading & doing art etc.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Looking at the materials, the desired schedule, the level of the children in the beginning and deciding how long we will work together eat day.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 25 years experience teaching all ages and a B.S.degree.
