My name is Tim Alston. I first encountered Professor Stevens when I chose to take 2 QuickBooks classes in April and May of 2011 that she taught at Palm Beach State College. At that time I was about to open a new tax practice and I wanted to learn QuickBooks as a means pf possibly expanding my practice in the near future. I was immediately impressed and impacted by not only the depth of her knowledge and experience but also in how she broke down principals, concepts and procedures in a manner that was easy to digest and apply for both novice and experienced QuickBooks users. I was so impressed by what I had learned in those QuickBooks classes from Professor Stevens, that I decided to sign up for 2 Bookkeeping Essentials classes that she also taught at Palm Beach State College in April and May of 2012. Once again, Professor Stevens demonstrated and imparted to myself and her other students an in depth knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices that was a result of her many years of practical experience in the business. What allowed me to get the most out of her classes was her ability to go beyond the mechanics of the material that she was teaching and provide actual real world examples that provided a closer look at what we as students might expect to encounter in the real world of bookkeeping whether it was as employees or as entrepreneurs looking to develop our own bookkeeping practices. As a direct result of what I have learned from Professor Stevens, I have successfully been able to expand my tax practice to include bookkeeping services. Since taking Professor Stevens classes, I now have a small number of bookkeeping clients and that client base is currently growing due to referrals. The addition of bookkeeping to my menu of services has enabled me to not only gain additional revenue from the bookkeeping services I am able to offer but also has served to expand my tax consulting client base. More specifically, the bookkeeping services I offer have allowed me to effectively expand my corporate tax client base while at the same time allowing me to also expand my base of personal tax clients due to the fact that I now have the opportunity to not only get those small businesses as clients but their employees as well. The business growth I am starting to experience has all been a direct result of what Professor Stevens has taught me and the continued support I receive from her as a continued resource whenever needed.
