- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
First and foremost, I always tell my clients that I am not a sales person. Although this is my primary source of income, it is far more important to me to make clients happy with the work to cost ratio. I will often ask clients what their budget is and try to cater the project around that. With that being said, there are two different ways I estimate price: 1) On art/mural jobs, I will often charge a flat rate per square foot. This is dependent on surface quality (rough textures, corrugated metal etc), and difficulty of negotiating the space (i.e. vaulted or high ceilings). 2) Sometimes I will just charge a flat day rate for larger projects depending on what is needed. Materials are an additional cost, and they can be sourced and purchased by me, or the client. If purchased by me, I will produce receipts for reimbursement so the client can see what they're paying for.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In residential or commercial projects: Initially after we receive your inquiry we will follow up with you to gather more details about the project you have in mind. We want to hear about the space and your vision. If you don't have a specific idea in mind we can work with you to figure out what would help accentuate the space. After you have agreed to move forward with the design process we will discuss budget and the details. A deposit is required before beginning any sketches or digital mock ups. Once the design is agreed upon we will begin the painting process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended Southwood Magnet School in junior high where is studied art. I then attended DASH Magnet High School where is studied fashion design & specialized in art. I attended and graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City for fashion design. I've also done several artist residencies in the US and Europe and have been an artist in resident for Project art and worked with various different art organizations that bring art to underserved communities.
