I am a Certified Master Dog Trainer graduate of the Highland K9 School for Dog Trainers. I began training informally before enrolling full-time in Highland’s 6-month, 280-hour residential Master Dog Trainer Program in North Carolina. I was one of just three students who successfully completed the supplemental Student Excellence Curriculum and graduated with numerous other honors. I was one of just 5 graduates out of a class of almost 30 students to be offered an internship at the Highland K9 Training facility. My internship provided an additional 6 months of hands-on experience as an apprentice at Highland K9 Training, with a focus on pet dog, service dog, and therapy dog training. I held the position of Service Dog Program Director at Highland Canine Training after completing my internship and then returned to Florida to start Libratum Dog Training. In addition to my academic education, I have hands-on experience training hundreds of dogs of various breeds, sizes, and ages including pets; service dogs; drug, explosives, and other detection dogs; human scent trailing dogs; search and rescue dogs; and dual purpose police canines. In addition to obedience, service dog, and trick training, I am well-versed in methods to address a range of behavior modification issues (aggression, fear reactivity, jumping, resource guarding, leash reactivity on walks, counter surfing, etc.) I employ balanced training methods that utilize all four quadrants of operant conditioning, with an emphasis on positive reinforcement to achieve maximum clarity and results. I offer one-on-one private lessons with you and your dog at your home. I focus heavily on educating every client about the principles being applied so that you understand how to use them effectively in various situations. I believe in building a trusting bond with every dog, establishing clear communication of rules and boundaries, and integrating structured play. I know that every dog has its own quirky personality traits, so training programs are customized to meet the particular needs and capabilities of both the dog and owner.
