Introduction: At Sunset K9 Training we develop friendships between dogs and their humans that last. Bringing out the best in them and keeping the family together is our goal. We base our work in the use of positive reinforcement techniques which allows your dog to enjoy the learning process. As a former Veterinarian Technician I was able to work with different kind of animals for more than 25 yrs. But dogs are my passion, so I decided to become a Certified Dog Trainer over 15 yrs ago. My first consultation is free. This allows me to evaluate your pup, establish an approximate number of sessions, and set up the work plan we will need to teach your dog Obedience and/or to modify undesirable behaviors. Tip: Dogs are constantly giving feedback. Pay attention and learn to understand it.

My dog Hudson had leash aggression, and it was difficult walking him since he reacted and barked at anything that moved. I have worked with other dog behaviorists that wanted us to spray the dogs with water bottles to correct behavior which didn’t work well and didn’t fix the core of the behavior issues. We became midnight walkers, as Luis called us, walking the dogs after dark when we did not expect too many people to be out. My neighbor recommended Luis since he had helped her dog that she rescued after it had been subjected to dog fighting. Hudson also does not like men, but with patience and kindness, Luis gained Hudson’s trust. A big part of training is teaching the owners how to read and handle the dog’s behavior before he/she reacts. So, it was a learning experience for my husband and I as well as the dog. We have made trips to parks and Lowe’s for training opportunities. We are no longer midnight walkers, and I am now more confident walking Hudson at different times of the day thanks to Luis’s help.

after a recommendation from a friend, i contacted luis at sunset k9 training...my 8 year old wheaten terrier was doing the typical terrier leash pulling , jumping on people and not staying put...after only 2 short sessions with luis, it was like a different dog...she actually listens !!...who needs a dog whisperer when you can get sunset k9...thanks , luis!
