About
At Sunset K9 Training we develop friendships between dogs and their humans that last. Bringing out the best in them and keeping the family together is our goal. We base our work in the use of positive reinforcement techniques which allows your dog to enjoy the learning process. As a former Veterinarian Technician I was able to work with different kind of animals for more than 25 yrs. But dogs are my passion, so I decided to become a Certified Dog Trainer over 15 yrs ago. My first consultation is free. This allows me to evaluate your pup, establish an approximate number of sessions, and set up the work plan we will need to teach your dog Obedience and/or to modify undesirable behaviors. Tip: Dogs are constantly giving feedback. Pay attention and learn to understand it.

Luis is very professional and takes his job seriously. He knows his stuff and does an excellent job with the training. My dog loves Luis, and we both have enjoyed working with him. I am very pleased with the results and would definitely recommend him!

Our 1 year old Blue Heeler was out of control. We needed help. Zeus couldn't be walked because he would bark and cry (like he himself was hit by a car) every time he saw another car/dog/bike/person. It was horrifying not just for us, but for the people in the cars/walking. We have had 2 other training classes .. 1 group puppy training ( we were asked to leave because he was disrupting the other puppies ) and 1 on 1 training at the local pet store .. after the 8 sessions and reinforcing all the bad behavior the trainer said she couldn't do anything for him. After phone interviewing several trainers I opted to go with Luis and we are so glad we did!! Luis is amazing!! (we knew this after the 1st session) We've now had 4 training sessions, and my daughter who had never walked Zeus was walking thru Publix parking lot on a Friday afternoon .. with cars & tons of people with a well behaved dog!! Luis is patient, kind and has worked with the entire family individually and together so we can all have Zeus under control. We've come a long way in a short amount of time thanks to Luis .. We highly recommend him!

Luis is excellent with my Black Mouth Curr dog mix. He understands what makes him tick and how to correct his behavior. My dog is very reactive and even after just the first practice, Gabriel (my dog) was already listening and behaving better than ever before. I can’t wait to continue more classes with Luis and see Gabriel’s behavior improve even more!

Luis is an amazing trainer and resource! Patient, positive, professional and always prompt. I just adopted a 7+ year old rescue who’s lived outside all his life with severe separation anxiety, so we knew we had our work cut out for us. Luis not only was very attentive during our session, but as a Vet Technician, he was very knowledgeable to health questions I had and made great recommendations for which products I should use in the future. At the beginning Kingston was extremely anxious, but Luis led every lesson making sure that he’d give us both tools to succeed. Luis helped walk me through the the best practices I should be implementing to make my dog comfortable within the first few weeks adjusting to his new life. Through our sessions, Luis has taught me how to create healthier bond in terms of communication with the little guy (utilizing his countless tips of being patient and practice). After only a few lessons, Luis was able to teach me the techniques to control my hardheaded, anxious, and easily distracted new family member. I would recommend him to anyone!

Luis is just awesome!! I cannot say enough about our experience with him and SunsetK9 Training! Our puppy, Marlo, took to him and responded to him immediately and in no time he had her doing the fundamentals, all in a positive reinforcement manner. I would highly recommend Luis to anyone who wants results with their pet, not to mention how reasonable the hourly rate is, so much value for the price!
