It will be difficult to adequately describe the level of excellence Michael Oliver brought to my event. There was strong communication and collaboration leading up and he was able to ask questions that helped me solidify the look and feel I wanted for the pictures. He went above and beyond expectations by bringing lighting equipment to create the look we were trying to achieve. As a photographer, his easy going, down to earth personality put everyone at ease. He quickly felt like one of the crew. And the pictures are absolute FIRE. He is an extraordinary artist and I feel incredibly lucky to have found him here on Thumbtack. My entire experience with Michael was beyond exceptional. Let me explain… So I was looking for someone to secretly capture my marriage proposal in Central Park. It’s a special moment so I put a lot of effort into researching and finding a great photographer. Being this moment only happens once, trust and quality were really important. While researching the social media and portfolios of dozens of photographers and getting estimates, there was a clear distinction between the top-notch photographers who had the highest estimates and the mediocre photographers at the low end. Then there was Michael. He was amongst the best photographers I found but his estimate was on the lower end (MUCH lower than comparable photographers)…so I was initially skeptical. But I took a chance and was beyond happy with the choice. His communication was great through the entire process. We had a quick phone call to go over details, we determined the marriage proposal plan (and came up with a contingency plan), and he reached out to confirm the details the day before. He thought of things I hadn’t, so clearly he had done this before. The day of the proposal Michael arrived early at our planned discreet meeting location. The location I planned on proposing at was occupied but Michael continued to follow us discreetly to where the proposal eventually took place. So he had no idea what the location would look like and no way to prepare the shot. But somehow the shots turned out absolutely stunning! We did a quick shoot after the actual proposal and then we went our separate ways. The next day, Michael sent over the photos and they were absolutely stunning. Great depth of field, color, exposure, everything was dialed in. He sent MORE photos than promised and everything worked out perfect. Overall, he’s a really nice guy, reliable, professional, talented, and very, very fair. My fiancé is still crazy about the photos which will memorialize this special moment forever. If you're searching for a great photographer to capture moments you want to remember forever, definitely speak with Michael. If you're experience with him is anywhere near mine, you'll be very happy! Thank you so much Michael!!

heck yea! I subscribe to magazines, I look at other photographs work everyday wether its through instagram, pintrest, photo websites.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
it honestly just happened. I had graduated high school and it was that time in my life where I had to decide what I wanted to go to college to major in. My two choices were music product or photography. And I just chose photography.
