Introduction: All of our sitters come with years of pet experience. Many have worked in vet clinics or with animal rehabilitation and rescue. All sitters are certified by Pet Tech in Pet CPR and First Aid. Laura the Owner is a certified Pet Tech instructor. All sitters have been back ground checked and are insured and bonded. What is more fun that hanging out with 4 legged critters? The cuddle/bonding time is great as well as play time. I'm often told by owners that their cats don't really need anything, they're self sufficient. (This occurs mostly in dog/cat households). As an owner of cats, I understand that they of course don't need a walk and we don't have to provide potty breaks, but they do require as much attention and playtime as a dog to stay a happy kitty. I love getting the kitties doing flying leaps chasing after the string toy that I generally bring along with me. My goal is to have the pets hardly remember that the owners are gone.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have had pets all my life. Dogs, cats, a duck, caged animals etc. I had originally attended MSU to go through their Vet program and while there I worked for a Vet Clinic/kennel. I later decided on another career direction, but have rescued many pets and volunteered at shelters. I moved to Florida to study Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (for my 2nd career) and after my first in year of practice the economy collapsed. I spent 6 months practicing in a clinic in New Zealand and when I returned I no longer had patients and felt I needed to do something different until I could afford to get a clinic started up from scratch. I always hired pet sitters and thought the idea of doing that as work would be fun, so I started my company and it has become my full time job. I now have 10 sitters that work with me.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure that the company is insured and bonded, knowledgable in pet care, certified in Pet CPR and First Aid and has references. Meet the sitters and make sure you feel comfortable with them.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

It is vitally important to us to protect not only our clients pets, but their homes and belongings. We do this through providing a lockbox option to our clients so that the key remains with the owners unless they need our services, and if clients prefer we have keys, they are coded in such a way that if they were lost, no one could figure out where it belongs. We will take the garbage out and bring the bins in, we bring in mail and newspapers, we will alter the lighting, all so that the home continues to look lived in while you are away. Buy most importantly, we make sure the sitters that work with us are thoroughly background checked, reliable, mature, knowledgable in the care of pets and insured and bonded. We want to provide peace of mind while you are away. We also send daily picture texts so that you can see your babies and get updates from us.
