Introduction: In my practice, I work with clients who are dealing with anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, life transitions and problems with work-life balance. In addition, I work with couples on their relationship using the research findings of Dr. J Gottman. Couples complete an online Relationship Check-Up that is analyzed at the Gottman Institute. When the results come back to I discuss findings with the couple. This is a marvelous tool because both strengths​ and weaknesses are highlighted giving the couple and I insights to develop a roadmap for change. My satisfaction comes from people overcoming the barriers that are preventing them from leading their best lives. To help someone overcome a major depressive episode and rediscover joy in his or her life is a wonderful feeling of accomplishment for both my client and myself. In working with couples, my reward is to see communication improving and arguments becoming less intense. Couples learn how to avoid "the four horsemen of the apocalypse", John Gottman's phrase for the corrosive effects of criticism, defensiveness, contempt and stonewalling. Once these damaging behaviors are understood the couple will begin to repair their relationship​ based on techniques derived from 40 years of research.
