I hired Window Gang through Thumbtack for an exterior cleaning project that included roof washing, window cleaning, patio cleaning, and furniture care. Unfortunately, the experience fell well below expectations. Upon completion, I reviewed footage from my security cameras and noticed that the roof was never actually accessed or cleaned, despite being told otherwise by one of the workers. The patio remained visibly dirty, with mildew and grime still present. The outdoor furniture was left in disarray, and the rugs were saturated and filthy—requiring extensive cleaning on my part afterward. When I contacted the Sarasota franchise, the owner’s wife was courteous and professional, but the owner himself was defensive and quickly escalated the conversation. He eventually came to my property with one of the original workers, assuring me the job would be done to my satisfaction. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The windows were never squeegeed—only scrubbed and left to air dry, which led to streaking and a poor finish. It was clear that one of the workers was inexperienced, and surprisingly, the owner appeared unfamiliar with proper techniques as well. In the process of pressure washing, they damaged my screened enclosure, blasting holes through the mesh and stripping paint off the aluminum patio frame. The damage was well-documented in photos I shared with them. The total cost for the job was $600, which included roof cleaning. However, on the second visit, the owner informed me he would not clean the roof due to its pitch, offering a $150 refund—despite that being a significant portion of the service. Even after the second attempt, the work remained subpar. The screens were still dirty, paint had dripped down from the frame, and mold and mildew were untouched. I even demonstrated—using a basic household product—how easily the algae could be removed, which one of their employees acknowledged as more effective than their own solution. While the owner’s wife later offered to cover the damages, communication ceased abruptly the following day, and I have yet to hear from them again. Overall, this experience resulted in considerable frustration, out-of-pocket expenses for repairs, and a significant amount of follow-up effort on my part. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience. The combination of poor workmanship, lack of accountability, and dismissive customer service was extremely disappointing.
