FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was at a local park(Lake Ella) practing my lighting techniques on some ducks. There was a wedding ceremony by the gazebo. A beautiful wedding. I actually felt invious of it all. I felt like an outsider trying to get a glance of some kind of majesticness. I continued shooting my little ducks in front of me. Suddenly a man approached me from the wedding and said "It sure is a nice wedding." I said it sure is as onlookers were watching also. Then he politely turned to me saying "That's quite a nice camera setup you got there (which I had aquired for pennies on the dollar at the local flea market. Just seemed like very strategic luck had been handed to me"). He also saw me with the lighting equipment trying to light up some ducks. He then suddenly asked me if I would like to photograph the wedding. I was like ME! "Yes...you." But I don't know these people. "That's ok. I will take care of everthing." Make the long story short. I shot the wedding. I went home and emailed them the pictures with my phone number. My phone started blowing up with calls about how much they like the pictures. The bride and groom's facebook page went viral within their friends circle. That's when I knew that I had stumbled on to something wonderful. And I've been enjoying the ride ever since.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Oh man.....really all types. But the majority of the customers I work with are common people. College Graduates, events, Headshots for business, families and people wanting their weddings done etc.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always do research on a photographer before agreeing to dive in. Just because they went to photography school does not make them an awsome photographer. When you meet with them. Tell them you want to see all their work. Not just their website. Prints if they have them. Most good photographers have some sort of archive of all their shoots. It could be on an external hardrive. You just want to see a theme of thier work. How it has progressed over time. We weren't always great photographers. But you should be able to see the improvement. Be leary if what you are requesting is next to impossible.
