Ali Mulvany

Introduction: Hello, my name is Ali, and I am a private contractor who provides swim lessons and volleyball lessons in Hillsborough and Pinellas County. Swim Lessons I discovered my passion for swimming at a young age which led me to swim competitively for 9 years. I have been teaching swimming lessons for over 7 years now, and I have worked for many swim schools in the area. I am certified in adult-child-infant CPR/AED and standard first aid. I specialize in stroke development and advanced swimming, but I teach all ages and skill levels. I believe in teaching students how to play safely in the water as well as survival skills. I stress the importance of pool safety and knowing your bodies limits. Volleyball Lessons I played left side and right side hitter in high school and accepted a scholarship to play libero (passing specialist) at Rend Lake College in 2008. If graduating at RLC, I received a scholarship to play at Lindenwood University near St. Louis, MO. After being the captain for 2 years, I was asked to continue my education into my master's and build the junior varsity volleyball team as the Head JV Coach. I coached at Lindenwood for two years and also coached an eighth grade boys' volleyball team and a 16-year old traveling team. I specialize in passing and hitting, but I can teach any skill level and position. Lessons Approach I am very outgoing and energetic. I believe that learning should be fun. I mold each lesson to the student. Everyone learns in different ways at a different pace and as an instructor, I focus on the positives and how to improve and avoid negative criticism. When teaching young students (especially swimming), it is 80% psychology and 20% knowledge of swimming that makes someone a successful instructor.
