Introduction: I am deeply interdisciplinary and integrative as a result of teaching for twenty-three years in nine different disciplines (Music, Theology, Religion, American Studies, African American Studies, Popular Culture, English, Leadership, and International Studies). I am broadly multicultural and ecumenical as a result of having been raised among Christians and Jews in America and having lived abroad among and in the home of Muslims in Zanzibar and Hindus in India, and among Buddhists and the monks of the monastery in the exile Tibetan community of the Dalai Lama in the foothills of the north India Himalayas. I enjoy helping would-be writers, casual writers, and academic writers discover the creative power within that makes literature of their writing, literature that is performative and capable of drawing in readers on the same aesthetic level that music arouses and draws in listeners. Given that my MFA in writing is actually a PhD in music composition and that my literary orientation is shaped by the history of music, it can be said that I like helping both the singing writer and non-singing writer soar with song, even if subtle in scholarship.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

My most common work entails editing and proofreading book manuscripts, articles, essays, lectures, speeches, and blogs for clients who have done their best writing, given the time available to them, and need a careful and caring eye and steady hand to perfect in form that which the writer feels or speaker already to be perfected in substance and to perfect in substance that which the writer or speaker feel already to be perfected in form.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Hire not a mere copyeditor skilled at correcting the form of writing but a writer well-published because he has mastered the form and substance of writing and knows the secret of allowing substance to dictate and master form.
