I have lots of experience in teaching in home, at my home and online private lessons (10 years online and 24 years total). I live on the east side of Winter Park which is centrally located to many areas in Orlando. I customize the learning and music to each student. For me, it's all about each student instead of always following just one method or curriculum! I really go the extra mile to make sure each student enjoys the songs they are playing and makes good progress at their own pace. My students get a lot of choices so they participate actively and the learning doesn't seem enforced. I have 24 years of experience (including 10 years experience teaching over the Internet) so I really know what works best to help students be able to play or sing. I don't get angry with my students and am happy to encourage them by only positive means.
Many of my students play or sing in recitals, talent shows, competitions, musicals and theater productions and they perform very well!
I also customize the payment and price - I'm willing to give senior and student discounts, put together packages and volume discounts, etc. I'm willing to try to work something out that fits the student's budget and the best way to pay that works for them.
I am definitely a "people-person". I've been told I'm good with kids. It's a joy for me to work with my students and to see them sing or play better and better. I feel like their successes and achievements are mine, too! I also am very passionate about music and teaching and have a lot of patience and understanding about the challenges one faces in trying to play or sing well, so I can help them overcome any difficulty!

Debbie has a very simple approach to teaching. My daughter who is 10 and has not formal piano training was able to come home after her very first lesson and play parts of 4 different songs. As you might imagine this has kept her very motivated, and the rest of the family entertained. My son who is 16 has now asked for lessons as well. Super exciting for a kid who was not interested in music at this time. I would highly recommend Debbie to anyone looking for a piano instructor.

Debbie was just what I needed to get me started with piano! She was not only very knowledgeable she was very patient and supportive as well. I was playing songs the first lesson and haven’t stopped playing yet. If I didn’t move out of town I would still be taking lessons with her!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I try to customize the payment and price. I'm willing to give senior and student discounts, put together packages and volume discounts, etc. I try to work with the student's budget and to find the best way to pay that works for them. If I travel to their house it will cost a bit more, but I try to keep that cost as reasonable as possible by scheduling the lesson near others in the same area or at a time that is less in demand. I will consider any reasonable offer.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We schedule a first lesson to see how they like the lessons and to determine their skill levels and prior knowledge and experience, as well as their preferences, goals, learning styles and speed. I ask the student to give lots of feedback as we proceed so I can really see what exactly works best for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated summa cum laude from Ithaca College School of Music with a Bachelor's in Music Education. I have a Master's also and have studied in London, Budapest and Munich. I'm also an experienced choral director as well as teacher for 24 years! I have also taught many teachers how to teach and have done demonstration lessons and videos for them to learn how.
