Michael Karl does an amazing job of teaching me acting lessons, stage presence and voice projection. He has such a way of expressing himself to help me get into character and to feel what the character is feeling. Michael is professional, punctual and proficient!! He listens to what your expectations are and what you hope to gain from the experience. I highly recommend Michael Karl!!!Apr 9, 2017Verified
Singing Lessons (for adults)
I took voice lessons with him for a show that was six weeks away and there has been notable improvements. I was able to sing most of my notes in a range that was not mine, which is incredible because I was once not able to hit most of my notes. He does specialize in musical theatre; so, if anyone needs help specifically with auditions and shows, he is your man. He does have a strong history with musical theatre and does both acting and singing. Even though my show is over, I still continue to take lessons with him, looking for other songs to audition with and to learn just for fun. He's very down to earth and understands the voice very well. He is also flexible with timing. I am a college student at a school almost 50 minutes away and he completely understands my busy schedule. He also is fairly cheap and very understanding financially. Other good voice teachers can charge up to 70 dollars an hour, so this was a very good deal in my opinion. I do not attend school for musical theatre, I just do it as a hobby, but working with him helps fuel my passion for it. If anyone is looking for vocal/acting help and loves musical theatre (both professionally and for fun), he is a great resource.Mar 22, 2017Verified
Michael and Madeline are THE BEST! My voice and acting have improved tremendously since I started lessons, and my confidence has grown as I've learned to be comfortable in my vulnerabilities. With a team that is genuinely invested in my vocal health and success, there is no one I recommend more!Jun 16, 2019
I started acting a year ago with Michael, and he helped me with my college auditions. I was accepted to two top conservatories and could not be any happier with Michael's service! He does everything he can to help my practice and can't explain how grateful I am to have such a great mentor. Highly recommend.Aug 13, 2018Verified

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? At Michael Karl Studio, we combine the latest research in vocology and vocal science with an individualized approach — helping professional singers and beginners find real, tangible improvements in their voices. By using the foundations of vocal technique, solfège, and song repertoire, we help students get the most out of their voice. Our methodology is built around a personalized roadmap that helps vocalists achieve technical and artistic mastery. That's why the very first lesson that you book with us is about capturing your artistic profile: this includes baselining, goal setting, and targeting specific problem areas. In other words, our method stems from capturing the full picture - creating long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have over 14 years' experience in classical vocal and acting training, coupled with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Musical Theatre and Voice from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. I also hold a Certificate of Vocal Pedagogy from BAST.
