About
Dog training and behavior is a passion of mine that started 25 years ago. I work with dogs most trainers won’t work with. Behavior modifications with fearful, anxious and aggressive dogs are puzzles I like to solve. My goal is to create a line of communication and understanding between people and their dogs. There is no dog too large or too small. Any breed is welcome in my training program. I look forward to working with you and your dog. Training saves dog lives and makes happy dog owners. I’m proud to be a part of that!

Trainer: Keith works out of his home, but travels very far if requested. He is pleasant and considerate when he explains what he thinks would be the best training option for you and your pet (train at your home or board and train) after the initial evaluation. He is professional (attire is his logo’ed shirts and pants), courteous (doesn’t speak down to the owner or insult them, but uses positive criticism), and knowledgeable. Initial Evaluation: He came out to my house which was over 50 miles away from his and walked my dog as well as watched all behaviors he exhibited with different scenarios to get a better idea of how to train your dog. Training: He trains for aggression, obedience, and other as well (I only needed aggression and obedience training). He has a set of specialty prong collars that I have seen other trainers use as well due to their durability and design (not three inch long prongs). He is not shock happy like a few other trainers I have seen and had a set protocol that helps the dog understand the escalating behavior modification techniques he uses and makes sure you know them as well (sound, buzz, then shock). He trained me more than he needed to train my dog to make sure that I understood how to get my dog to understand and behave. My experience with him: Hunter had a problem with trying to lunge at other dogs and animals (he is a hunting dog) while on walks. He now walks beside/slightly behind me and always on my left side as he has been trained. I have not had any problems out of the house and inside the house he also listens much more and doesn’t try to lunge at visitors anymore. Training: Keith does follow up sessions and calls to make sure that Hunter isn’t having any problems and is open for answering questions. He has made me more confident walking Hunter and lessened our issues. Price: Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. My sister had a trainer for her dog who did many of the same things, was a little cheaper, but did not follow up and now he dog only responds if she shocks her dog. Hunter responds to calls and the beeper so there is not very much need to use the buzzer or shock on his collar. The leash he gave me to use was leather and stronger so Hunter won’t break this one. Location: His house, boarding (what I did), has a row of kennels that are spacious enough to have an igloo dog house inside as well as room to walk around and drinking area. He owns a goat which all of his trained dogs ignore (good trainer). He uses other dogs that he is currently training as demo dogs to explain what to expect of your dog. They are usually working on place or off leash commands in from of the driveway so they can see all activity in the neighborhood. The kennels are visible from the street as well. They get plenty of stimulus to help with training.

Details: 1 dog • 10 years or older • Large (41 - 70 lbs) • Private dog training lessons • Aggressive behavior modification • Leash pulling • Barking • Digging • I travel to the dog trainer • The dog trainer travels to me

Keith is such a fantastic trainer and gave us solid tools and techniques to train our 9 month old puppy! Before we started working Keith, we had no idea what we were doing trying to train her. She pulled like crazy when we tried to walk her on her leash and she was inconsistent about whether she listened to commands. 4 private lessons later and we’ve made so much progress! Our puppy listens consistently now and sits, lays down, stays, comes to us, stays off the sofa, knows her “place” and best of all has gotten really good at heeling on her leash! We’re getting compliments on how well-behaved she is when we’re out and feel really confident we have skills to keep our training momentum going. We will recommend him to anyone that needs a dog trainer!!

Details: 6 - 12 months old • Large (41 - 70 lbs) • Private lessons • General obedience training • Leash pulling • My home, venue, etc.

Keith has been an excellent coach for us and our Husky. Huskies are notoriously hard to train and we’ve had challenges for a long time. Keith is passionate about dogs and understands how they operate. Even though we disciplined and trained our dogs, it hadn’t been enough to truly control our dogs in the most important situations with our baby, around visitors and other dogs. Most importantly, Keith has trained us on how to lead our Husky - and speak her language. There are a variety of things we had no idea of. We’ve learned a ton and now are building and succeeding with a system that always establishes leadership and leaves our dog feeling relaxed and obedient. I’ve never seen our dominant Husky so submissive to our commands, to having her own dedicated places to stay, obedient on walks and having good manners with her mouth which can be dangerous. Thanks Keith - you are the man!
