Lawn care service was performed on 5/30/15 by Andre Bias and his team. Mr. Bias and his team arrived within the timeframe promised and worked diligently to ensure the lawn was completed to my satisfaction. I found Mr. Bias and his team to be very courteous and professional at all times. Mr. Bias was open to any critiquing needed, for which I feel confident will be taken care of, and therefore plan to utilize the lawn care service of him and his team again. I would recommend the Quality Care Lawn Services of Mr. Bias to others.

This guy was awesome. He only had appointments on Tuesday and he called and told me that he would squeeze me in on Saturday. I thought it would be late in the day. He called me early this morning and was at my home at 9 am. He did an amazing job, he cut grass, weeds and lined up my lawn. A lot more than I expected for the price. I was very satisfied with his work. I would give him a 10 if I could.

Spencer was polite, courteous, and especially effective! He completed my front and back lawns, mowing, hedging, trimming, and leaf blowing in 2 1/2 hours on his own. Pricing was very reasonable, and service impeccable. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing lawn care, and I plan to use his services in the near future!

Lucio went above and beyond with the tree cutting project! He was very professional, turned up on time, courteous and above all was very attentive to details. He took additional time in cleaning up the area very thoroughly. It felt like Lucio didn't do this as just another job, but he spent concentrated time and effort to ensure that he did an excellent job and he definitely over delivered! And the price that he charged was very reasonable. It was a true pleasure to have Lucio take up our project and it was a positive experience. I would recommend Lucio for any landscaping/tree trimming projects without any hesitation.

My yard looks wonderful and it was more than I expected. I am extremely pleased. I've been able to maintain cutting the grass but years of not edging left me with overgrown weeds in the walkway, flower beds, weeds in the driveway and along the sidewalk and curb.  Mr. Jack and his son with Shalom Lawncare cut, edged, and cleared everything away. He asked me what areas needed the most work {most people do what they think you want}  and his attention to detail in getting the work done clearly showed in my great looking yard. He also mowed the lawn and trimmed the hedges.  His wonderful and pleasant customer service was an added bonus not only did he ASK  & LISTEN to what I needed done, when we scheduled the appt he called me later on after they finished another job early and told me he could take care of my yard the same day. When I came home it was a drastic and welcome difference. After seeing how great the yard looked and having a good experience with talking with him I immediately told my sister and a coworker about him. I am a single parent of 2  and I can't afford to waste money. I am high on customer service and some service people only want 1st time money, they do just enough to get paid and they don't think about repeat customers or referrals. I didn't get that experience from Shalom Lawncare. Of the 3 quotes I received he was not the cheapest and also not the most expensive and when he responded in his quote he stated he could handle the detailed work I was looking for, that stood out to me because he paid attention, the other 2 just quotes prices. I got top-notch lawncare service at an affordable and reasonable price and I will highly recommend and definitely use Shalom Lawncare Service again.

Was in the hospital recently, so currently unable to do any yard work, and got some recommendations for landscapers and came across LawnDawgs and I have to say that I am extremely pleased with their work! Brent, the owner, came out and did a GREAT job cutting our lawn, trimming, weeding/spraying, etc. Everything looks very nice and I would highly recommend LawnDawgs for the great work they do and the very reasonable pricing. Give them a shot!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to have your lawn mowed?

Regular lawn maintenance can do wonders for your home’s curb appeal. Professional lawn care prices will vary based on the regional cost to do business and regional cost of labor, the size of your lawn, and any additional services you may desire such as edging or mulching. The national average for lawn mowing costs is $30-$50. Pros may charge an hourly rate, a flat rate or by the square foot (an acre contains 43,560 square feet). Square footage rates factor in the professional’s time, the use of their equipment, and the gas to operate the mower. Distance may also affect cost: If you live outside the company’s standard service range, you may pay an additional travel fee. Here are some examples of average prices for mowing and lawn maintenance:

  • Up to 8,000-square-foot property: $30 per week/$120 per month.
    • Bimonthly: $40 per service/$80 per month.
    • One time only: $45 per service.
      • Prices include mowing all turf grass areas; trimming grass away from fences, structures, trees, and lawn edges; and clearing or blowing all grass trimmings from driveways, sidewalks, curbs, etc.
  • Hourly rate: $25 per hour (including travel, equipment costs and labor).
  • Lot size:
    • Smaller lots in subdivisions: $35.
    • Half-acre lot: $50.
    • One-acre lot: $100.
