- What types of customers have you worked with?
Residential Roofing Replacements, Repairs, Installations and Proactive Maintenance. We also spend allot of time assisting property owner's in the event a Hail &/or Wind Storm impacts our area. These severe storm's typically cause damage to the Roof, Siding, Gutters, etc... and the property owner's Insurance policy may cover such damage(s). Prior to filling a Claim, S&S evaluates & takes photo's of any damage(s) to the structure, prepares an Estimated Summary of Loss and provides the property owner with the Best course of action to meet their individual need's. We provide this service FREE of charge.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We had an elderly customer who really needed the service of a roofing professional. Yet, she was so afraid due to all of the flight-by-night choices and the same type all over the news for fraud. Luckily, a neighbor was familiar with not only our business, but the S & S family as well. After being referred to her, she announced a stubborn leak that just wouldn't go away. She'd already had the insurance company to take a look and they said it must be the wear and tare of her roof. The roof was 9 years old. So, we went out to evaluate this issue only to find wind-damaged shingles and bruising to a large majority of her roof caused by hail. After showing her the many pictures taken of this damage and discussing the different options available, she decided to call the insurance company back out. The same adjuster was assigned and met with us to evaluate the roof. After a couple of hours, the adjuster was unsure of damages, so we stepped in to assist as a roofing professional. After pointing out the wind and hail damage to the adjuster, he himself agreed and couldn't thank us enough for the assistance. With that being said, the insurance company paid for her loss (entire roof). And, not only was that stubborn leak taken care of, she got a brand new roof installed by the best! She was nearly in tears for all that we were able to accomplish for her. Can't say we didn't feel the same way at that point. After her loss of her husband and many more close to her within a short time period, she seemed to feel so alone and helpless with the major task(s) owning a home can have. We're happy to say that we personally check in with her routinely. We do whatever we can to lift the burden of little issues around the house by donating just a few hours here and there to see that smile and sigh of relief a little help can bring. That's who we are, folks. We care, and our community is why we keep the doors open.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Unfortunately, the Roofing Industry here in Georgia has become more and more corrupt over the years. Landscapers, Plumbers, House Cleaners, Painters, the average handyman Joe, etc...are now calling themselves "Roofing Experts" or "Storm Damage Experts"; when in fact they're NOT!! With all the "Flight By Night Roofers" and less than professional grade roofing choices out there - Doing your research has never been more important. Check with the Seceritary of State, Only consider Roofers Rated by the BBB, Ask for at least 10 references in your area, Ask for proof of insurance coverage, Get 3 estimates and compare the materials preposed (Remember the cheapest estimate is the cheapest for all the WRONG reasons!), Make sure the business is LOCAL, NEVER PAY UPFRONT!!! Reputable contractors like ourselves have credit with our Suppliers and are financially able to complete the project prior to payment.
