After investigating several appliance repair services, I decided to use Mr. V’s based on their proximity to me and a number of good reviews that I had read online. The problem to be addressed was my dryer which had begun loudly squealing the day before. The technician sent was David Chernikov who arrived promptly in the designated time. He disassembled the dryer and determined the problem, then went through each and every one of them making sure that I fully understood the work that needed to be done. While he was here, I asked him to take a look at my dishwasher which had a broken latch. Previously, I been told by another company that it was too expensive to be fixed and that I should just use it till it died by propping a chair against the door to hold it shut. David took it apart and, lo and behold, gave me a quote to repair it that was more than acceptable in my mind. He fixed both of the appliances to my satisfaction, was extremely pleasant to deal with and met all the time scheduling in the exact manner quoted. In addition, the work is warranted for six months! I am more than happy to have discovered Mr. V’s and gave them a five star rating because it was certainly deserved. There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind as to whom I will be calling in the future as my appliances need maintenance. James Baxter Winder, Georgia

My experience is short. It would cost more to repair my oven than to get a new one in my opinion. I was only billed for the visit which was lower that others. The tech gave his best price given all that was wrong with my oven. The service tech was real professional and honest. I didn't feel like I was getting cheated. So I would use them again for other appliance repair if needed.

I hired Scoa remodeling to work on a house built in 1953 that I am about to sell. There was rotten wood all along the exterior facia which needed replacing and painting. Mr. Wilkins proposed a plan to repair the wood, and pressure wash and paint the exterior. His work was quick and very professional so I hired Scoa to paint the interior and fix some buckled dry wall. Mr. Wilkins repaired dry wall, fixed a minor mold problem and painted the interior of the house. The work took about 1 1/2 months and was very professional. He gave me a fair price on all the work. I will hire him again at my next place. Also, I hired Jimmy for an entire home remodel and he handled the entire renovation for me. He painted the interior and exterior and painted the kitchen cabinets so now they look brand new. He installed brand new hardwoods in the kitchen and sanded and polished the existing hardwoods so they look brand new also. He renovated two bathrooms with new tile and glaze to the existing tub so that looks brand new as well. He installed all the new fixtures and appliances in the kitchen. You can hire Jimmy for small jobs or very large jobs. His prices are very good and his quality is excellent. I highly recommend him and I will call him my self for future jobs.

Had to call a repairman this last week to fix my oven as it would not heat up past a certain point. I would turn it on and it would just blow gas into the oven, but nothing was heating up and only started to stink after a while. Called these guys, Atlanta Appliance Repair and I liked the customer service. Spoke to a young lady over the phone, who sent a technician out to my house on the same day. Turns out it was an easy fix and didn’t even require any part replacement. Thank you.

John did some roofing repair, and Gutter adjustments to correct what a prior roofer and 2 prior gutter installers did not do correctly. The prior installers created leaking problems, John located the problems and made the needed corrections. He did not waste any time getting the job done. he was honest and dependable, even completing some other issues that were not part of the contract. I would highly recommend.

Appliance Tech was recommended to me by a friend. I was having a problem with my dishwasher. Josh came out the same day I contacted him! He was right on time, and gave me a courtesy call when he was about 10 minutes away. He discovered that it was a plumbing problem and not the dishwasher. He was friendly and professional, and his service fee was extremely reasonable. He has been in the appliance repair business for 16 years. Appliance Tech is a small family-owned business. I will absolutely call him again if I need an appliance repaired.

Outstanding service. I tried to change broil element on our in cabinet oven and didn't turn off power before I started. The oven sparked and damaged the connecting wires. I had already gotten a new element online but needed someone to fix my mistake and install element. Technician knew exactly what to do. He pulled out the oven and repaired the wires from the back. Took him around 40 minutes. He gave me a price before he started work and that is what I paid. I've been in construction management for 37 years and would recommend this company for any appliance service.

Maurice did a great job! He came out on a Sunday! We had a leaky washer bib that had totally saturated the walls & trim. He completed the plumbing repair, replaced the drywall, cleaned up the area and took photos during and after. We have and are currently using him for other projects as well. Thanks Maurice!

The company did an excellent job. I was in the process of purchasing a new refrigerator because my 9-year-old refrigerator went out. I have a side by side stainless steel. This refrigerator would've cost thousands of dollars for a new. The technician came out and diagnose my refrigerator and replace the part the next day. Although the labor was slightly higher than anticipated. Contact was bad on my unit. I rather pay that as opposed to purchasing a new refrigerator. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

My old washer had a crack and was leaking. It was not a cheap repair so I decided to just replace the washing machine with an older machine. Due to our budget we got an older washer that is pretty basic. The washer is a little bit smaller than my old one but I can't complain. The washer is quick to wash, cleans excellent!!, and not noisy at all. It's a sharp machine and I was honestly shocked at how great it is for the price and that its older. I could not be happier about it. Thank you A-Team!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
