Jay did an excellent job regarding the project. He was able to cut the wall panel around the banister and make it look flawless. His suggestion of moving the doorbell box and outlet outward to flush with the panel made it look even better.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I use a spread sheet that calculates billing by adding labor at $30/hr plus the cost of cv materials that I have supplied plus 20% for profit and overhead costs. This comes out to $36/hr if there are no material costs. I use the same template to estimate bids or track “time and material” jobs.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After we initiate contact on Thumbtack, If the customer wants a fixed price and it seems like I need more information I will schedule a meeting at the job site to gather information and email a quote. If the customer is okay with a time and material arrangement, then I go ahead and schedule the time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took a course in project management. I have worked in the residential renovation field for 20 years. I married a licensed Architect. =P
