Very thorough, very friendly. Got out all the stains at my apartment. Also incredibly trustworthy (the found a quarter on the floor and placed in on the counter). Five stars all around - they literally mopped their way out of the front door. Thanks so much!
Al was very polite and worked to replace and outdoor light fixture and repair my front door in a very timely fashion. He was sure to clean up after himself and made sure I was ok with the work done before leaving. Great person and great work!
Hired Jerome to paint 2 bedrooms and a couple of ceilings, paint and install a door, and re-caulk 2 bathtubs on our rental property. Work was very good, done in a timely manner, and for a reasonable price. Jerome made sure that I was happy with the work. We plan on hiring Jerome again for any future handyman projects.
Did a great job installing the exterior door
Couldn't be more pleased with Julie and her work. She contacted me very promptly and we easily scheduled her work. She did an excellent job cleaning my front porch and pool deck. I will definitely hire her again.
Had a great experience with Larry! He helped fix our front door, coming up with some new ideas we hadn’t thought of. He was super friendly and did quality work! Will definitely hire him again!
Willie and Matthew did a great job for us. I had some projects around the house that I couldn't do myself. I wanted to switch a bathroom door around to open a different way. I got Willie's info from Thumbtack, called Willie and spoke to him on Monday evening, he came the very next day on Tuesday and completed everything to our satisfaction. I would definitely use Willie again.
Floyd did a great job repairing the rotted wood frame on our front door using PVC trim wood. He was able to locate and replaced new 10"window sidelites and installed new blinds. He attached an awning and handrail we had purchased, and his labor cost/pricing was reasonable for each project. He was reliable, hardworking, and listened to our concerns during the home repair. We would rehire him for future projects.
SnJ Painting Plus did a fantastic job! I had small bed room, accent wall, dinning room, front/backdoor and garage door painted. What I appreciated most was the quality and how fast the job was completed. I highly recommend them! Thanks Sean!
We are very please with the work Brandon did. Our front door wrought iron window looks beautiful! Highly recommend. Thanks Brandon! :)
Repairing the staircase to my front door turned into almost fully replacing it. This was no scam or sales job- Rafael clearly showed me rotten wood stringers underneath the risers that I had asked him to replace. He was thoroughly professional, skilled, courteous and efficient. The construction was finished the same day, with he and his partner working until 9:00 pm and still cleaning up everything and taking the rotted wood to the curb. The wood had to dry 7-10 days before being painted, and I thought "oh great, now I'll have to nag him to come back", but No- he showed up yesterday to complete the job. I am totally satisfied with the work, and would recommend him to anyone. I will definitely call him for future jobs.
Mr. Baynes has been a contractor for me for numerous projects in my home. The scope and nature of the project work included entire interior and exterior painting of a 6800 sq. ft. home, deck restoration and painting, siding replacement, new construction of sunroom, power washing of house exterior and driveways, new appliance installations, wall and ceiling replacement after major water damage, carpet installation, tile refinishing in the bath area, painting of exterior rod iron fence and gates and widow re-sealing and re-glazing. While home improvement projects are inherently stressful for almost any homeowner, Mr. Baynes’s services as a contractor were invaluable, and I have been extremely pleased with the final result. Specifically, I would give Mr. Baynes top marks in the following areas: 1. Quality of work performed. The quality of work done was consistently. Mr. Baynes was knowledgeable, skilled, and competent in his respective trades. He was conscientious about all of the project specifications, and his work product rarely needed improvement or revision. 2. Quality of work. Mr. Baynes was professional, reliable, courteous, and respectful of my property and privacy. He had an old school work ethic (often 10-hour days, some Saturdays), good work habits, strong safety orientation, and emphasized getting the job done right rather than doing it fast. His pride in his work was evident. He tidied up at the end of each workday. I also found him to be trustworthy, and felt comfortable with allowing him access inside my home. 3. Project management and coordination. Mr. Baynes’s prior experience working in construction really paid off. He was knowledgeable about all aspects of my projects, and was able to plan, coordinate and manage the activities, effectively. 4. Integrity and professionalism. Throughout the projects, I was impressed with Mr. Baynes’s commitment to generating a top quality product, rather than maximizing his profit margin. 5. Effective communication. Mr. Baynes kept me closely informed of work schedules, delivery dates, and projected completion dates of different phases of the projects. His communication was always clear, informative, and helpful. 6. Flexibility and effectiveness in dealing with unexpected developments. When unforeseen problems surfaced (e.g., water damage behind a wall; he worked diligently with me to identify solutions that was acceptable to me. 7. Responsiveness to my needs and concerns. Mr. Baynes’s commitment to my satisfaction was evident in his actions. 8. Truth in advertising. In his proposal, Mr. Baynes gave a clear breakdown of costs for each facet of the projects. His contract was just as detailed in describing the work to be done and the itemized costs. When the project was completed, all the work was done as described and agreed upon, and there were no hidden costs, extra expenses or unpleasant surprises. As a homeowner and customer, I felt Ms. Baynes delivered exactly what he had promised, at the agreed upon price.
I've hired Kevin to do repairs on my house a couple of times. He repaired damage from a tree hitting my house, replaced the gutter and soffit, shingles, etc. Also replaced a bay window and repaired rotted wood around my front door. I've found his work to be professional and prices to be fair and will call him next time I need that type of work done.
Ben Reed was professional. Also Ben Reed knew actually what was needed to repair my kitchen cabinets. Reasonable price for the work. We will use Ben again.
Mike Edwards is the most prompt and dependable handyman I've dealt with in a great while. I had him over to help with an on-going lighting issue with my motion detector on my deck. He had it resolved & repaired in no time. He even help me with another issue with my garage door tracking that I caused some years ago coming home late from a bachelor party!! He knows his stuff...and quite punctual. He's my first choice... EVERYTIME.
Mike has done multiple jobs st our pharmacy. We needed a swinging half door installed and the product was much more detailed than I expected with a design that exceeded expectations. I was extremely satisfied with the product to value ratio. The second job involved an outdoor type of drywall product that was peeling from our building. Mike did his homework and selected the best product for the job, then repainted the entire wall. Excellent work, sir. This man does not take shortcuts and puzzles out custom work to create replicas of antique molding.
In 2013 I purchased a 1920 bungalow in need of rehab and renovation. The work required coordinating specialists in mold remediation, groundwater management, roofing & gutter repairs, attic cleanout and installation of floor & drop down ladder access, removal of insulation & re-insulating, diagnosis and repair of faulty plumbing, chimney repair, cleanout of crawlspace & installing new vapor barrier, & extensive repair & refinishing antique hard wood floors, refitting antique doors to existing door jambs, repair of antique windows, external re-painting, hvac system cleanout & repair, and complete gutting, redesign & refinishing a bathroom with curbless shower. There were many decision points in this extensive project. The entire course, my contractor was easy to communicate with and honest about cost & budgeting. Ric Rodriguez knows the best way to get a job done and when I did not follow his advice I always regretted it later! All the Portico South staff and subcontractors we worked with were terrific - both pleasant and capable with very high quality work. I recommend Portico South without reservation and look forward having them return when I am ready to do further home renovations in the future.
Shaun was great. He not only beat estimates from others, he did a great job of removing my bat-egress cone and foaming the opening and touching up the paint. When he finished, he asked if he could help me with any other problems so I showed him my broken pocket door which had stumped 2 other handimen and he proceeded to fix that for me too. He's my hero and i will most definately reccomend him and use him again.
installation of front door Excellent
Charles did an outstanding job! He replaced rails on spindles on front porch that had rotted. He also replaced door and door jam for our son's bedroom and fixed broken spindle on staircase and repaired cracked window sill. We are so impressed with his craftmanship and will definitely be using him for future projects. He was punctual, fair pricing and went above and beyond our expectations!
I am a young professional who is in a wheelchair. I bought a single story foreclosed 1,600 sq. ft. house in midtown and contracted with Jill and David Ellis to remodel it and make it handicap accessible. They leveled an uneven cement floor, installed a new Mahogany wooden floor throughout the house, installed new appliances, and remodeled the master bathroom out of marble. Jill set it up so that I can roll myself into my shower stall and take a full shower while remaining in my wheelchair the entire time. I wanted my backyard fenced for security and instead of buying the preassemble thin board units they used pressured treated decking boards and built a custom fence that looks great and you can not easily scale it. They even attached carpet strips across the inside of the top so that if someone did try to climb over it their hands would be cutup by the carpet tacks embedded in those strips. Instead of just installing a new front door with the standard short screws that the prefab unites come with, they removed the those short screws and replaced them with 3 inch long screws so that the hinges were secured to into the actual frame of the house. The lock hardware was removed and they installed a 3-foot strip with correct cutouts for the door to latch and the deadbolt to sink into. This 3 strip they too secured into the frame of the house again with 3-inch screws. The install was tested a few weeks later as I came home one night to find that someone had attempted to kick in the door. They put some effort into but the door did not fail. The police had to use a Jaws of Life rig to pry open the damaged door. I contacted them the day after this happened and they came and immediately installed me a new door. Clearly I think highly of their work. Great Job Jill and Dave!
